traditional jazz is a way of playing music. it is an unfortunate title. why people wish to play or hear tunes from the past may be reverence, i am glad that many bands understand the only way to keep the public mindful of this wonderful music is to play what is current as do we the LAZY ALLIGATOR JAZZ BAND and we play classic stuff too. a bit like bill russell who banned bands that toted saxes. his line up was generally clarinet trumpet trambone in front of the rhythm section of drum bass and banjo maybe supplemented by piano. so what would one accept as jazz ....for example pops celestin, sam morgan, jelly roll morton, armand piron and plenty of others

"Current," yes, the original purveyor of this song died in 1964, not long ago. Sorry, Ian, couldn't make a lot of sense of what you're saying.
