日本人へのお知らせ! To any of you English speakers, I'm just helping the japanese listeners understand the idioms in the lyrics since some of their translations I saw had some bad translations.

I am a Japanese highschool student learning English and a big fan of BMTH. Thank you for your detailed explanation. I find it really helpful. Even as a learner of English, I find some mistakes in translations of lyrics of BMTH's songs into Japanese on individual blogs. I really want writers to be more accurate in their own translation. I wish I could translate BMTH's emotional, beautiful and sometimes lyrical lyrics accurately ,conveying minute nuances, and spread charms of BMTH. By the way, Your Japanese was awesome. ありがとう。

This song is one of my favorites from the album. I was in an abusive relationship for 2 years, and the person went off and spread all kinds of lies about me, so when I tried to come forward about the abuse, people didn't believe me. So I went silent, while he completely ruined my reputation. When he says, "I cut my teeth and bit my tongue 'til my mouth was dripping blood, but I never dished the dirt, just held my breath, while you dragged me through the mud" it really hits me, because I felt like that was exactly what I was going through. Thankfully, his new girlfriend (now ex) came forward confirming all of the abuse allegations, because he did the same to her. Now he's finally seen as who he really is. It still is upsetting how many people bullied and harassed me because of him, but at least he got a taste of his own medicine in the end. (pun intended)
@mindvortex20722 жыл бұрын
Thank you a lot for telling such an amazing story. I was excited while reading it. A great number of people around the world suffer from abusive relations they have joined in. But that which does not kill us makes us stronger :) Wish you luck! .
This is definitely different. There are way too many sick metal bands in 2019 for me to be sad about losing 1 though. Hey at least if they make it on the radio it's got Oli's Lyrics instead of some shit about a lambo or drinking it's more tolerable.

I honestly don't get the amount of hate for this song, lmao. BMTH put out 2 other songs that were pretty heavy sounding. This is a bit of a changeup, but that's fine. It doesn't mean it will speak for the rest of the album. If anything, it means the record is incredibly diverse in genres. That's a good thing. That means they're establishing themselves as artists rather than just a Metalcore band. Everybody goes through this eventually. Bands of the past like Linkin Park and Incubus did this when they got to their early 30s too. Nothing new here. I personally love the new sound just as much as their old sound and have been a fan since Suicide Season and can't wait to hear the rest of amo.

Writing music isn’t as easy as some of us think and to expect a band that’s been around for awhile to keep putting out the same style that feels completely different is kind of crazy. Lyrics: Some people are a lot like clouds, you know (Clouds, you know, clouds, you know) 'Cause life's so much brighter when they go You rained on my heart for far too long (Far too long) Couldn't see the thunder for the storm Because I cut my teeth and bit my tongue Till my mouth was dripping blood But I never dished the dirt, just held my breath While you dragged me through the mud I don't know why I tried to save you 'cause I can't save you from yourself When all you give a shit about is everybody else [Pre-Chorus] And you just can't quit, why don't you deal with it? I think it's time to stop [Chorus] You need a taste of your own medicine 'Cause I'm sick to death of swallowing Watch me take the wheel like you, not feel like you Act like nothing's real like you So I'm sorry for this, it might sting a bit [Verse 2] Some people are a lot like clouds, you know (Clouds, you know, clouds, you know) 'Cause life's so much brighter when they go And I spent too long in a place I don't belong I couldn't see the thunder for the storm [Pre-Chorus] But you won't admit, why don't you get a grip? 'Cause you can't keep going on and on and on and on like this And you just can't quit, why don't you deal with it? I think it's time to stop [Chorus] You need a taste of your own medicine 'Cause I'm sick to death of swallowing Watch me take the wheel like you, not feel like you Act like nothing's real like you So I'm sorry for this, it might sting a bit [Bridge] 'Cause I cut my teeth and bit my tongue Till my mouth was dripping blood But I never dished the dirt, just held my breath While you dragged me through the mud Yeah, I cut my teeth and bit my tongue Till my mouth was dripping blood But I never dished the dirt, just held my breath While you dragged me through the mud [Pre-Chorus] And you just can't quit, why don't you deal with it? I think it's time to stop [Chorus] You need a taste of your own medicine 'Cause I'm sick to death of swallowing Watch me take the wheel like you, not feel like you Act like nothing's real like you So I'm sorry for this, it might sting a bit Taste of your own medicine (Taste of your own medicine) Yeah, I'm sick to death of swallowing (Sick to death, oh) Watch me take the wheel like you, not feel like you Act like nothing's real like you So I'm sorry for this, it might sting a bit [Outro] Some people are a lot like clouds, you know (Clouds, you know, clouds, you know) 'Cause life's so much brighter when they go

I respect your opinion I just think Oliver Sykes has sold out. I am all for bands who transition but some of his new songs are left overs from an album he was writing for Fred Durst. What an ignorant statement. Bands like Paramore and Panic! At The Disco were not even close to the musical style of early BMTH, this clearly states that you have not listened to early BMTH and probably became a fan when Sempiternal was released. I love it. I think it's good for a band to change their sound. BMTH are still talented. If they were to stay the same as they were when they first started making music, fans would lose interest. They have been changing their sound and the reception to that has been pretty positive. With this song in particular though, it feels like a different genre all together, more pop than rock. Which isn’t a bad thing in itself, but this one feels pretty generic and uninspired. Not that you’re wrong for liking it, if the mainstream pop sound vibes with you that’s totally fine, but most of us aren’t listening to this band because we like pop rock, I’d imagine.

I get what youre saying but how is shifting from one generic genre to another supposed to be so impressive to me? They went from generic metalcore to generic pop rock. We all know that the only reason this band has stood out since the beginning is cause of the female fanbase surrounding their singer based on his looks. I would know, Ive been aware of the band since their first EP

The band barely exists. Its just Oli and abunch of producers. Back in the day they actually had to play instruments and Oli had to use his talent to scream. THAT was talent. Using filtered up pop beats and shit isn't talent. Anyone can learn to produce and Oli is a better screamer than a singer.

Going pop is not "being experimental" lol.
@Ao2BairdTUR5 жыл бұрын
@@dwdw182 I agree. But this isnt pop. This is as said above. Alternative Rock. However, Changing your sound, and EXPERIMENTING with other sounds, and genres, is the very definition of Experimental. They are trying new sounds out for themself, seeing what they like the best. THIS is the TRUE definition of a BAND that makes music because THEY like to MAKE THEIR OWN music. As a BMTH fan since Chelsea Grin. One of my top 5 albums of all time. From all artists/bands. Is That's the Spirit by BMTH. Which sounds NOTHING like the original sound in which brought me to BMTH in the first place. and incase you want to try to diminish my opinion saying i probably like Pop only. 1. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park 2. Kamikaze - Eminem 3. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet - A7X 4. That's The Spirit - BMTH 5. What Seperates Me From You - ADTR

I think the video its very personal for oli, you may think that its just random shit but its not, its about us like fans that crititize oli a lot of times, (his voice, the way that bmth its going, his wife) and you can see at 00:35 that oli is tied by a black rope, its how he feel when we dont let the band be, at 00:45 we see an eye inside oli head looking all what he does or not, the black olivers mean us, we are the black clouds, oli lost his head (literally) because all of that, at 02:27 one oli head its trapped in a cage, whit another oli inside, that dont let him think clearly what to do or think, but at the end he has a fight with himself, wich allowed him to regain his head again... its just a thinking, but we need to see deeper than a new pop music video

Ahw cute for Oli. What about the two Matt's, Lee and I would not even name Jordan because he's the reason for the shit direction this band took. I seriously just want to know why this band is becoming a solo project in everyone's eyes?

@@edzardgrimbeek2732 this band has always been oli, yeah i know what you will say, but its the true, he is the face that sells, he want to do this, also i blame jordan for the direction of the band, but they really want to get bigger, they will play in lollapalloza in south america, i would never imagine that bring me would be so mainstream right now, but i cant blame them, you see all the metalcore bands stuck in the same repetitive riffs, all sounding diferent but at the same time the same, they want to make a difference, oli want to make a difference, maybe the next album they get heavier again and this album was just to make money, but i wouldnt count whit that, remember how oli and matthew started, "Womb 2 Da Tomb", he listen other music too, its not a metal head as many people think, thats the image that they want to sell, maybe they want to do every genre possible

Well if Pop Music was more like this I’d be listening to pop music more... but I love BMTH’s take on pop and I love it!!! Been a fan forever and I appreciate their growth and willingness to experiment with new sounds! Yet at the end of the day their music can still be described as unique and one of a kind!!!

I was dealing with some toxic friends back in the day and listened to sleep with one eye open (and maybe cursed them to it). then a bit more recently I was dealing with a toxic work environment and listened to this. I don't know if that shows personal growth in myself or musical growth in bmth but I like that it lined up.

Holly shit! I haven't listened to BTH for 7 years and I saw this in the new releases sections on Spotify and for a good 20 seconds I was wondering if I was listening to the correct band. From deadlier than death metal I've heard this pop song. And the thing is I LOVED IT!

Love the lyrics to this song so much. Reminds me of my dad, sadly. BMTH has helped me heal & has always assisted in experssing exactly what i'm feeling since my middle school days. Now I'm almost 30- still always coming back to this band & their music.

I like how everyone is so fast to hate, most bands that come out with new albums, always change their sound. You can't have the old BMTH due to Olis vocal issues. You should be respecting the artist, instead of sending him hate. It's shocking he can still push out music, due to his medical reasons.

I can name many bands that have stuck to their original genre. I can also name many that have gone pop over the years. . It's disappointing.. but it is what it is. As for a band that has never changed... Breaking Benjamin is the same as they always were.
