Being bulgarian, the intro was very familiar to me the instant i heard it. What might be more interesting to whoever is reading this, is that the song that they sampled is in 7/8 , so they didn’t only downpitch it, they also tried to straighten the rhythm out by repeating the last bit of each bar, so it turns into a 8/8 (4/4) feel. :)

Oli is the man and Jordan is a very close 2nd. But both of them are very smart people. Where you got that idea from is insane. If you watch their makings of these songs. how does this sampling thing work legally? It sounds very cool in the song, but how can you just copy, like a whole verse of a song basicly, and use that as an intro? As someone who wants to get into production this is really interesting to me, but also I don't know how I feel about it, and how it would work legally and ethicly. Can someone chime in for me, or give me a link or something where I can read up on it?
@Lrg3654 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard 2 things but don’t know whether it’s bullshit or not, I heard off one person that when it’s not being tampered with, it can only be a certain length and heard off another person that you have to change the sample a certain number of times to do with tone, tempo, arrangement etc
@Dipper14594 жыл бұрын
He did say it's from a live recording too. So probably able to get away with it a bit more than if it was from an actual record
@dubiousdaydream16954 жыл бұрын
All I can find online is that you need to legally clear samles every single time and that everything else is a myth. So I'd guess in this case with bmth their label just handled that for them

Plus I think with this sample of the Bulgarian folk song, it was probably written hundreds of years ago and then passed down through generations. Since copyright didn't exist back then, one person cannot be credited with writing it (like nursery rhymes). Therefore it's copyright free.
