Man, that ending breakdown just kicks the shit outta everything. I just don’t get people talking shit on them just because they don’t do this genre anymore. Their first 3 albums are just masterpieces and they influenced so many bands on those times that half the scene these days wouldn’t exist without them. Old BMTH is definitely a pillar for new metal music.

Sleep With One Eye Open (Lyrics) Fuck you You took what you wanted and left, like locusts Everything I gave to you, everything that we've been through You bled me dry and then went, like leeches Go, you got what you could now leave, like vultures Ripped apart in minutes what was built in seven years The ink scarred on your back may as well have disappeared For as long as I remember, you sold everything you owned But now you sold our friendship, you're on your fucking own Sleep with one eye open Sleep with one eye open If I had it my way I'd slit your throat With the knife you left in back All this shame, all this guilt, all this regret, that's me I'm inside of you, I'm inside of you I'm inside of you, I'm inside of you And this is your world Fucking falling apart mate, from the inside out Everything will fall apart at your feet You got hell to pay Yeah, you got hell to pay And you better fucking bow down to me You better beg for mercy Get on your fucking knees and cry me a fucking river Sleep with one eye open Sleep with one eye open Sleep with one eye open Best friends means forever Best friends means forever Cunt

that intro riff is so heavy. bmth is too underrated in the metal community. HOW IS THIS NOT ON ENCYCLOPEDIA METALLUM??
@vicx12182 жыл бұрын
A lot of people still won't consider them metal or won't acknowledge their early work just because they abandoned this style of music and went more radio friendly. It's funny when their first album was at the borderline of deathcore and melodic death metal taking influences from bands like At the gates, Arch Enemy, cannibal corpse and other metal and hardcore bands and people would still hate and not label them as metal at all lol. Also a lot of these people have either never heard the first bmth albums or they're either the basic elitists that fear the "core" and would then listen to similar music under a different subgenre.

They can't do their hard stuff anymore because Oli would no longer be able to speak let alone scream, I don't blame him. All he ever really did was fry scream and occasional other types of screams, and that takes a lot of toll on your voice.

@@mm-gk6xg I got into them by TTS. Then CYFMH, then Amo, then Sempiternal, then when Post Human released, i had to check out their older stuff because by then, i finally wanted more of that "Heavy Shit" that i've always avoided simply because it was too fast or intelligible. So they really bridge that gap for people, and they did for me. Now i listen to Edge of your seat and a year ago i wouldn't have liked it.

Top tier metalcore songwriting right here. Other bands have no fucking clue how to even begin emulating the sound BMTH had in SS/HELL/SEMPITERNAL days.
@kostyay.40717 жыл бұрын
Spot on. Those sad, pathetic losers have been copying "the Djent tune", maybe from this song specifically, ever since SS was finished. No one fucking did it prior to that, I mean, completely different songwriting, no "ganging screams", none of the Dropped A stuff. Fast forward into 2011, and everyone on Sumerian, Rise, etc, all the bands were "converted". And all that for what?.. I mean, what's the "shift" for, old Metalcore had an awesome feel to it... 2000's "Transient Effects of Life on the Water, The", 2003's "When Goodbye Means Forever", 2005's "A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye". Yeah, a fat fucking "goodbye" to those times, alright.

You can totally tell they use voice editing software now...looking back at bmth's old live performances of songs from This IS What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For, Oli can hold a note for like fifteen seconds and rock the place, now In my opinion BMTH has utterly changed there playing style completely sounding generic and cookie-cutter like to appeal to a larger fan base. Everyone in videos of their old live shows everyone was having a great tme whether it be in a mosh pit, doing some weird headbanging dance like movements, or just plain out chilling out of the center enjoying from a far(LOL) Now I only see People Wit their cell phones out. It is interesting to see how things change. Though, one of the reasons I think they changed their playing style was because Oli's voice slowly weathered from it prime because of all the screaming. They might have had to play softer to cope with the change.
