Bring on the Rare Toys: A Supercollector Roundtable Discussion at Kaiju-Con

Super collector Tom Franck moderated a discussion with lifelong toy collectors Quang Le (Yesterdays Pins), Justin Ishmael (ISH, Powerbomb), and Mark Nagata (Max Toy Company) at Kaiju-Con on June 15, 2019, at the Japanese American National Museum, presented in conjunction with the "Kaiju vs Heroes" exhibition. They talked about how they got into collecting, what they collect, how they find rare vintage toys, the concern about forgeries and custom painting of other people's toys, and more. "Holy grail" collector stories shared include Nagata's hunt for the rare Red Ultraman, Le's Matango variants collection, Ishmael's rare late 1970s Lord of the Rings figures, and the Franck's Garada K7 Jumbo Machinder figure.
