Nice, thank you. I will be following along, this brings back a ton of memories. when I first got married in the late 80s I had a 72 CJ 304that i bought for 400$. I pulled the engine and carried the bare block into my basement. Rebuilt it over six months as I was young and poor. I didn’t think ahead very well, as when it was finished with crank, heads etc installed I couldn’t carry it out of the basement. I had to make a custom ramp and use a winch to get it up and outside into the garage. it ran like a champ after I got it installed, then the inevitable happened. We had babies and as it had turned into my daily driver I had to sell it. Fast forward almost 40 years later, kids long gone, I’m 61 years old and just bought a 74 CJ5 with 304 that has 75,000 miles on it from grandson of original owner with pics of him picking up from dealer. He had no interest in it whatsoever and just wanted to dump it. Looking forward to making this neglected beauty a bit more capable. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

I just purchased a 1979 Cj5 a few months ago and I was able to get it running after several days of work. I like your mapping of part 2 and part 3, I am currently working on priming and painting the frame and underneath the body. I also have some welding and rewiring to do to fix some rust and then replace the old original wiring. This is my first time working on a project vehicle and videos like this are crucial in how I have been able to go from it barely firing off to where I am now.

awesome !!!! a lot of times just a lot of cleaning and re wiring can bring an old dead jeep back to life , I always do the simplest and easiest things first before spending money on new parts

Hi , you can get a Uni-lite point eliminator kit for about $75 t0 $100 dollars for your distributors (stock) they work good .I had one in my 1960 CJ5 with a 350 Chevy in it .

I think the issue you’re running into with the transfer case adapter is related to a difference in clocking between Jeeps and Scouts transfer cases. Your fix of exchanging the adapter plate should do the trick as long as you get a plate from AA that’s clocked for a Jeep application.

Ya it’s possible the.part numbers don’t match between the case and output gear, but I installed a spare t 15 I had laying around and bought the matching gear for it, but I’m still gonna figure out the t 18 problem. So I can use it on the next build

You've made a whole lasagna there. Congrats on the restart, and for not being stupid and forcing it to turn over. Looks like it all fits pretty good in there. I have a 78 cj5 shell that I drug home. The 3sp t18 is set up for a Ford 351. We are talking about a whole Chevy replacement so it all mated up. Not huge hp, but it will be street driven so I want 4sp. Hi to the goats. Keep the vids coming.
