After finding one of my biggest sheds a couple weeks ago, I have been wanting to clean it up ever since! In this video I break down the steps I took to transform this antler from white and cracked to looking fresh off a head! It is a fun and simple project you can do on any type of antler.

Super as always Martin! Have you ever tried Potassium permanganate on antlers? Thats my goto for coloring moose antlers, and even some deer antlers like fallow deer, roe deer and even red deer. Easy to manage for natural look with sand paper(I pefer steel wool) But it works out best by far on moose paddles in my opinion. Stay safe! Regards from Sweden!

I used the wrong kind of wood puddy to fill a squirrel chew on the back side of a couple tines on a nice whitey deadhead, its f****d hardened a darker color and its supper noticable, good example though, thanks man!

Great vid Martin as always, thanks for the upload. Have you ever considered using an angle grinder with a soft metal wheel to clean out the dirt and impurities and a grinder wheel to smooth out the chewed tips? Just a thought.

Here in Colorado I once took a pair of moose platters and made them into hanging plant holders like spider plants or similar I to love sheds but I like to utilize them like with mule deer antlers acouple facing down for legs and a couple up to support a potted plant if your sensing a plant theme your right I love how the green of the plant contrasts with the antler the aforementioned moose plant hangers were hung in front of wall mirrors really adding a airy spacious feel to the space just a tip from one artist to another!

Up here in Alberta many of our northern moose will have sheds that are Dark Chocolate brown. I have a bomber matched set like this. Nice restoration.

Hey anyone has an idea of what to do? : i have found a moose antler in the forest, was there probably a long time, theres some green, white, brownish and black part colored. I have clean with soap and water but nothing changed, i dont know about bleach (or then i can colored it again), do you think black parts are decaying ?
@Martin_Chag
@Martin_Chag 3 жыл бұрын
Usually it’s decaying once they have that coloring. It can be hard to fully restore
