Chestnut trees were always a high and dry tree. Plant chestnut trees in hi and dry clay or sandy soils to avoid many problems. I suspect this orchard has excess water retention or over irrigation issues, it is too lush. You can't have the disease without a favorable wet environment. If your soil is too wet, cut your losses and grow something else. . I have never seen blight an any Chinese chestnut trees planted high and dry. Matter of fact, the drier the more prolific of a producer. Plant the hybrid Chinese chestnut trees from Auburn University for mind blowing yields. They have been proven winners from university trials from Florida to Missouri. I gawk at the over loaded young tree branches filled with Auburn hybrid chestnuts.
