I had to stop at 1.30, Mike you hit the nail on the head. NOTHING about farming and ranching is more correct then when there is problems making hay makes a grown man have a temper tantrum. I have never seen my grandfather, my brother, or myself get more upset over break downs, weather, or complications then during haying time. Add a thunder storm and golf ball sized hail to the mix and watch the fur fly! Thank you for sharing and bringing back good memories, I really appreciate what you, Erin, and the kids bring to the channel 3 times a week.

Hi again! Must say Mike over time you surely have learned a ton since you started ranching! Coming from your past it's really impressive and wow you should be so proud of yourself! You're pretty much a one man show doing some of this and alot of that for whatever is necessary at the time. Your haying is so different from what I know with 3 to 4 cuttings raking drying baling all over a period of time of course all dependent on the darn weather. Can't imagine getting it all done in 3 days or so! Also those beautiful bales of yours weighing in at 1400 lbs got my attention too. Prairie grass is somewhat different too but I do remember you saying once that you did have some brome and alfalfa areas too. I'll be sending prayers once again that all goes good for you this time with no breakdowns delays injuries just good weather and safety too! Thx for sharing Mike and God bless...

Hi Mike over this way we just received another inch of rain so it puts off the start of hay season till next week. I think we'll start watching the weather on sunday and get the equipment ready to go . there's been a lot of rain to make a mess out of everything , the pastures are a total mess and mud everywhere . Hope things go well for you guys this hay season and maybe even more productive than last year. Take care.

It's weird you needing to bale at night for moisture and us in my part of Scotland we are still waiting for dry days to get our silage cut as its been like 10mm of rain this week so far. We use a 10ft JD mower to cut our grass and we only have to do 45 acres of first cut then 20/30 acres of second cut for wrap bales then 20 acres for hay. We usually get 3/4 tonne to the acre depending on how much sun shine we get but the best I remember was 8 tonne to the acre and the silage pit was 25 feet tall of grass. We just feed breeding cattle mostly Angus, limousine, Charolais, Belgium blue, Simmental, Hereford and a couple others. We have 50ish breeding cows 20 steers 14 bulls(mostly for sale) 20/30 sheep unfortunetly but we use the sheep to help bulk up our silage fields in February to mid March by eating the left over grasses from the year before. Great video again Mike.

I hear a lot about JD tractors breaking at the worst time. I live here in northern New Mexico. I am seeing many broken JD tractors around the area left out while bailing hay. Would it behoove you to change brands? Or do they all break. A huge property owner here swears by anything light blue. We personally only have 10 acres so we chose an LS XU6158 to help with my building and maintenance projects. It has worked perfect so far. KNOCK ON WOOD!

Yall definitely don't have fire ants out there! 1. You use molasses as fertilizer. 2. You use a sickle mower. I am happy you don't have to deal with them! Also, our rake is way smaller. We couldn't use a wide one in our little fields down here. And I can't even imagine dry weather to allow you to bale at night the same day you cut it! We have a time trying to time it just right so we allow the grass to dry for a week after raining, then cut it down and let it dry 3-4 days before the moisture gets down far enough to not catch the barn on fire.
