The point about artists having to brand themselves and prove they're marketable before they're signed--it's the same way in book publishing.

Reality is noone cares about the actual music and hasnt for some time. It comes and goes, microwave as ever. Expecting artists to be expert “marketers” and building “brands” instead of just being artists. But success and great art are not always the same objective. I think the term “working harder” is wrong thing to say. They work harder to be famous, not on being better artists in whatever craft theyre in. Painters paint. Coders code. Rappers film skits and interview and make videos… everythung BUT get in the studio. And when theyre in there today, its 123 freestyle sessions, wntire albums made in a weekend.. maybe thats why they have time to market …😂
