Why is the yield curve inverted? It's because interest rates were low for so long that people gave up taking a risk and starting a business for taking on the risk of owning a highly leveraged home. Low interest rates are a direct cause of mortgage inflation. 346k mortgage@8%=600k@3%. Home prices get to go up because money is cheaper to borrow leading to a fake wealth effect causing people to spend money they don't have because the asset isn't actually worth what people are paying for it. Satoshi Nakamoto was for getting rid of the central bank, not asking it to lower interest rates to keep the ponzi going.

The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. The answer is to encourage production. Replace all income taxes with a progressive consumption tax. At least replace the payroll tax with a national sales tax. The way to eliminate inflation is to first top printing new money. That is a requirement. Second is to encourage production. Do not punish work and production. Also loans can be indexed to a basket of goods. If the basket of goods and services goes down in value, then the loan should go down. If they go up, then the loan principle should go up. Ethereum was invented by a student in Waterloo. Yeah, it's southern Ontario, but not a Torontonian who did it. I'm starting to think they're never bringing that interest down because they actually want to damage people seriously and then buy/own all their housing and transform Canada into a servitude rental economy. You already have a very compliant, non-combative, complacent, mostly immigrant population who come from places that are so messed up even messed up Canada is a better choice, and then they won't even mind, complain or ask for a change.

The rating agencies essentially stamp AAA on all govt bonds because the last time the S&P tried to downgrade US govt bonds, the CEO of S&P was fired the next week. That was in 2012 and since then, no rating agency dare downgrade the US. So don't expect rating agencies to be reporting the quality of bonds. Just like pre-2008, mortgage backed securities were stamped AAA by these same agencies which turned out to be sub-prime mortgage junk.

I agree of his assessment of what is wrong with the trajectory and the symptoms. The economy in most develop countries are only able to grow by increase debt both government and household and population growth, this problem started in the 1980s. We have a similar problem in Australia, our government knows this and we've kicked the bucket down the road so long now that the moment we try to fix this there will be a collapse - So the government kicks the bucket further down the road by a massive increase in migration that makes it appear as if the economy is still growing, which creates a hosing shortage, renting crisis living standards continue to slide for the majority of the society. We are stuffed no matter what we do now.

I agree with you. Should they cut rates we get hyperinfation. They printed WAY too much money. We know the FED is always late, both raising and cutting. This mistake usually did not cause too much of an issue... usually just a recession. This time with the debts being so high them being to late will cause a depression but that is what we need. We need a massive decline in prices. So in a nutshell we are stuck.

We are already in a recession. Inflation is already *way* higher than the retail spending increase, meaning that the only reason retail spending is positive is because of inflation. If inflation is 4% and you get a 1% raise at work it means you are falling behind. If retail sales were up 0.7% in march but inflation was 4% it means retail sales were down if you subtract the portion created by inflation. Americans aren't (historically) used to high inflation, so it's harder for people to make sense of economics in this environment. People's feelings are actually more accurate than any government report. You feel like we're in a recession? Because we are

Physical Gold and Silver have intrinsic value vs. fiat or crypto. So I would disagree completely with any BTC investment or MMT theory long-term. I like these stocks: CEF (60%gold/40%silver), PSLV, OUNZ, SGOL, GDX, GDXJ. They have low (< 0.8%) fees/expense ratios and the miners GDX and GDXJ pay nice dividends annually, and the Gold and Silver miner dividends should go up in 2024 as Gold and Silver rise to new highs.
