This is just a short stream testing one of my favorite little CRT's: The 2000's-era Brionvega Algol reproduction. Basically, this is a "modern" PAL CRT modeled after the ones from the 1960's. Let's use a MISTer to test it out and see how it looks!
PLEASE NOTE!!! It looks like only the original 1960's TV's are on eBay!! If it doesn't have a SCART port, it's one of the old ones: ebay.us/q6ToMs

That's a gorgeous little CRT there! Absolutely right that it is perfect for playing older console stuff and really getting a fantastic experience from it 😎

The originals from 60s-70s are damn expensive nowadays. The original model won many design awards.

Most European CRTs since the 1980s support 60Hz, and most after 2000 even support NTSC color! Sony Trinitrons are your best bet for scart multistandard input. Mine even supports Secam!

In my experience a lot of 90s TV's also supported NTSC over composite (but not RF), and with RGB connection PAL/NTSC is irrelevant.

@@benissertrue that, also "higher" (and not necessarily high) end models used to feature SVideo too. We used to have a few of those as well

@@benisser Well, not if you have a 50Hz-only TV. @RetroRGB Bob, those will just display a rolling picture. So if you feed 60Hz signals and the picture is stable, you know it's displaying in 60Hz .If you think of it, why would it convert it to 50Hz? It would require a very expensive buffer and it will result in jittery video... for much less cost you can have a tolerant tube that accepts 50 to 60Hz, as most European TVs did. And yes, once you have RGB, NTSC color is irrelevant. Unless you have composite-only NTSC consoles. For a long time I had a composite modded Famicom and my 14' Sony Trinitron was the only CRT that supported it.

Thank you for your review! So what's the verdict? How does it fair compared to PVM / BVM and other similar high end monitors?

Thanks! PVM/BVM have much higher TVL tubes. But the case looks so cool, I think I'd prefer this over an 8" PVM :)

Did you grab this in Ontario? Pretty sure this was one of my TVs I sold a while back. Nice to see it made its way too you.

50Hz on the back is for alternating current, but I guess you're feeding it 60Hz AC and it takes it fine. Why wouldn't it? If it accepts 115V it must accept 60Hz AC, is there any country with 115V 50Hz? Some parts of Japan have 100V 50Hz tough... but video signals are thankfully 60Hz nationally so the 2 frequencies are not necessarily linked. Otherwise how could we have PAL60 in Europe?
