I’m almost 30 years old. Very rarely do I cry over an artist’s death, and it seems like a lot of my more favored artists have passed away over the last 15 years. I’ve only known about this guy for about a month now, but he’s already one of my all-time favorite artists. He’s all I’ve been listening to since my co-worker recommended his song Needy Hammy to me. His music is everything I love in gangster rap. The beats, the vibe, his energy, presence, not to mention ice cold flow and stellar punchlines. He was one-of-kind. I know he had something special. I can feel how much we’re missing out on. I also heard he didn’t really write any of his music down? That’s amazing, if so. Just a natural, inborn talent, waiting to be let out. Gunned down by people that don’t really appreciate the artistry, who only saw him as an enemy, and how could they not, considering the way he carried himself in his music? The man would have the world thinking he’s out for blood at every second and always at the ready. It makes you question why he was unarmed. If only he hadn’t of crashed the car. If only... alternate realities in which he’d survived. All of the “what if” scenarios, but none of it brings him back. He was a beautiful creature of rap. I love his music. Bris never dropped a bad track to me. I love them all. I know he would have blown the fuck up and worked with such big artists, not to mention more of his own stuff, and murdered every single track. The lifestyle raises these talented young artists and, sad as it may be to say, a lot of us appreciate the fact that it’s real, not an act, and they’re really in this life and death situation with opposing factions. This lifestyle that births these great stories, it’s the same lifestyle that then quickly kills them, just the same. We ask, why didn’t Bris get out of the situation, when it was a lot his environment and the life he knew that kept him there, right? I’m sure the guy had plenty of opportunities to leave, but how can you leave the block you put on for so hard in all of your raps? 42nd Fruitridge Park heathen. That man was an angel on the mic tho. Going back to the hate of the men who took him out, maybe it was deserved in some way, but you know they didn’t for a second stop to consider the caliber of music the guy put out. Anyone who says they’re into rap, but are not a Bris fan, they’re a damn liar.
