Back in early August we had the Royal Queensland Show or the 'Ekka' as its more commonly known as up in Brisbane and so as part of the show the Brisbane City Council area gets the Wednesday during the show week every year as a public Holiday. So given we had a public holiday and brand new garbage trucks I thought I would go out and get some more footage of one of my favourite truck and driver combinations, BSR807. I know you have seen this driver in action a bit before but I thought it would be good to see him running the new truck fast like it should be run. Over Christmas I am planning to get footage of the new waste trucks, organics trucks, possibly the commercial RL's (if they are possible to find) and most importantly the new Single Pass trucks. We have another public holiday coming up in the first week of October on a Monday and I have a fairly good idea as to where the Single Pass trucks may be so we could see them earlier.
Anyway here we have BSR807 in action in the south eastern suburb of Carindale which is about a 30 minute drive from home, this particular part of the suburb wasn't its nicest, but its a change of scenery to the western suburbs I have gotten the bulk of my footage from. On this day too BSR807 was running nice and faster than when I first filmed back at the beginning of the new contract in July, in fact it wasn't too far behind the old 807's times and speeds, but still nothing can match Shane's old beast! I got out to Carindale by around 8:30am or so as I knew Shane's first load wasn't really that exciting and harder to follow, so I decided to get out there when he was just starting his second load and go from there. Literally just as I parked the car I spotted his truck way off in the distance and managed to catch up to him, I ended up walking around 9km and got 45 minutes worth of footage for the library.
So the new recycling trucks are the giant 35m Series 5 SPak Raptors and they have grown on me, I reckon they look better than the waste trucks, they are just too short for my liking where as these are a bit better proportioned. Sadly it will be hard for me to get much more dark early morning footage as the daylight and sunrise are just about here by 5:30 now so we will have to wait till next winter for that. The also have the white noise reversing beepers which I have to say I really like and unlike traditional beepers they really are directional, if your at the front of the truck you can't here them, but as you get towards the back of the truck they are nice and clear, so should be a plus for the residents whose bins are done around 5 or so. Hope you guys enjoy the footage though!
