Wow I remember so much of this so well! I spent a lot of time in the park during the 70s. Loved the paddle boats. It even looks like me and my brother with my uncle in one of the shots.... Will have to check on a bigger screen! 😊

After about 20 seconds I believe I know one of the people in the paddle boats. Can I get a copy?

This brings back memories of my childhood. Lived in Kennion Road overlooking Troopers Hill. Attended Air Balloon school, then St George Park school before finishing at St George Upper school. Spent a lot of time on troopers Hill and St George park. I loved the Clarks pie shop. Pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. 1960's 70's

Having been raised in St George, I appreciate this video, greatly. I see the school where I attended both Infants and Junior classes, and the (one time) old post office on the corner. There was a 'zebra crossing' which was a little closer to the post office than the pedestrian lights shown in the photo. One morning when I was somewhere around age 7 or 8, I was late for school and ran from the side alley straight onto the crossing and right into the path of an approaching Jaguar car. The driver made an emergency stop and pulled up inches from me. Just think what the world would have missed (?) had I ran out just 1 or 2 seconds later! Thanks for the video

I remember the paddle boat's, the rain shelter for the want of a better word. But I think I have a vague recollection of the bandstand canopy still standing in 66 / 67. I certainly shall never forget coming off my little scooter doing at least 150 miles an hour (in my mind) down the steep slope at the Howard Street end, can't remember if I was Batman or Evel Knievel that day, I went a pisser that day! 😂😂😂

I definitely remember the fence around the lake and think I remember the bandstand canopy does anyone know when it was removed? I also had a failed attempt at a jump of the bandstand on my Raleigh chopper from the top of the hill by the old lamppost, ended in disaster with a 180° flip and me on my flat on my arse
