These are a magnificent sounding peal. I have always been curious to know why pre war heavy Taylor bells especially the tenors have this wonderful drone sound which post war bells don't have. Look at Yorkminster Worcester, Westbury and Winchester as some examples. If you listen to the modern heavy Tayor 8 at Adelaide it is alovely peal but the drone which seems to almost bathe the other bells isn't there. I wonder if the bell profile was changed.

Adelaide hums a lot more now that we use wooden clappers, we just don't have any good recordings of it yet.

I don't like the way the 11th bell, the d, resonates. Sounds a bit dischordant, but I love Taylors bells. The tuning is exactly how a bell should sound.

irene c My mistake. A lot of rings in the key of c are 12 bells whereas this ring is 10 bells.

@@RingerThomas Beverley are let down by the tower (it's too small) - there's no doubt they are a class ring of bells, mind! These are so good partly because the tower is so big. If Beverley were in a tower like this, I have no doubt they would be as good - if not better!
