Bristol Vores Compact Touring Series A feature. US Short Track Nationals 2019

Ride along with Todd Metz Jr in the A main feature at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Vores Compact Touring Series. This was part of the US Short Track Nationals in 2019.
Todd qualified 17th and started 9 rows back. After 50 laps he finishes 3rd! This was his third time running the Short Track Nationals and his first time finishing.

Bristol isn't quite as fast as I was figuring it'd be. I think I remember you saying you run a 3.55 there and were in the low 7k rpm range. That'd be 108 mph at 7300 rpm. I was guessing top speeds around 115ish.

Why are you so pissed when the guy cleanly passed you on the outside at 2:35? Just curious....

I was expecting that driver to possibly pass like that so I kept looking in my mirror. He has a tendency to make risky passes coming off the corner at Bristol and had I not looked it would not have been as clean. The mirror makes it look like he was significantly farther up the side then he was. Had I not been paying extra attention I would have been hooked in the wall coming off the corner. It was way too early in the race to be doing such risky stuff and I was upset I almost got caught up in it. If you watch closely at around 11:40, 4-5 cars ahead of me you can see the exact situation I'm talking about play out.

Front Wheel Discussion Absolutely man. I get it now and especially after watching ahead and closely paying attention. I understand your frustration now, especially very early in a race (at BRISTOL) to be making hairy moves. I certainly want trying to be rude, I was just very curious. I have a little Eclipse mini stock I run up in Mass so I can at least somewhat relate to being out there. Certainly not at Bristol though! lol Unfortunately, there’s always going to be “that guy” out there. Just keep doing your thing man 🤙🏻 awesome footage and I can’t even imagine how amazing it is to race Bristol!

He’s a really nice guy and I’m not trying to call him out on anything. I just knew to look for it and was upset at the moment that it happened. Bristol is a hell of an experience and if you can make it down to run one year you should for sure! Just make sure your safety legal to the rules!

Front Wheel Discussion I get it man, you make some valid points. We all get caught up in the emotion when we’re out there. I would loooove to run Bristol. Even to just get out there and make laps, I know I couldn’t win but it’d be fun as hell just to be on the highbanks of Bristol. Keep putting up some vid, and I’ll keep watching!
