12th July 2020 should have been our annual Thanet Vintage Bus Road Run, however the Covid19 virus came along.... With the easing of restrictions, it was decided a few buses would attend at Ramsgate Boating Pool and give 'rides around the block'. There was AEC Regent V AFN780B, DMS Fleetline MLK550L and of course my Bristol VR WKO137S.
On this short run, we leave the boating pool at Ramsgate and travel through the Royal Harbour Approach road tunnel.
Why not join us on Sunday 6th December 2020 when we're going to try and do a run very similar to the road run. This will replicate the 49/52 services between Margate Harbour and Ramsgate Harbour.
WKO137S has a 10.45 litre Gardner 6LXB engine and rather rare 14'6" Eastern Coach Works bodywork. New in 1978 to Maidstone & District, she worked out of several depots including Luton, Gillingham and Sheerness. Later, as an Arriva bus, she was transferred to Dartford before being withdrawn in 1999. Apart from a few changes and a bit of tidying up, she is basically in withdrawn condition.
