This is the greatest ever moment in darts, the seemingly unstoppable, brilliant Bristow against the boy who threw the darts of his life that week, (he beat Lowe and Wilson to get there) and then Bristow doesn’t go for the bull to leave 32, saying to Deller “go on son I dare ya”, Deller says ok then and boom boom boom, off. Taylor’s first 9 darter, Hankey’s 170, Kirk Shepherd’s run to the final, don’t compare to that 138 purely based on the circumstances and the fact that Deller beat the top 3 seeds to become champ.

Just checked, it happened here in the quarter-final against Lowe in 1985. Deller posted a 100.30 average.

Keith Deller, of IPSWICH!!!! I've seen him many times in the North Stand at Portman Road and he loves talking about that checkout, he remembers it like it was yesterday. Also it was a 12 dart leg, brilliant!

That is kind of the ultimate check out...WC final...Bristow was invincible back then, like Taylor in the 90s and 2000s...both 5-5 sets...bristow on 32, Deller knows he just HAS TO do it....

Aye, a 12 darter it was. In terms of least darts thrown in the title winning leg, I think this is the best leg that there's been. 2nd to that is Phil Taylor who threw a 13 darter to win the title 9 years later against Mike Gregory

I highly suspect that Bristow couldn't go for the Bull as his 2nd Dart seems clearly not in the T18 but the Single 18. If you pause at 1:39 you can clearly see it. So he was on 86 after that second Dart, couldn't finish and followed up a T18 to leave 32. No naive or safety play here.

nah u can see the wire with shadow under the dart, 2nd dart was t18 clear as day to me when u zoom out the frame.
