I had a friend years ago who worked the oil rigs in far northern Canada. He told the story; One of the cook's helpers had gone out alone to take the garbage out. (First rule. Never go alone) By the time others realized where he had gone, they were hearing gunfire. The kid had walked up on a massive Polar Bear coming around the other side of the bins and froze. Now. This is the kicker, the gunshots were from an RCMP officer who had just pulled up(Likely on a snowmobile)LOL. He saw the bear. Drew his sidearm. Startled the bear. He took off. The officer was there with a warrant for the kid! He was happy to go into custody! Haha!

Good story! Thanks for posting it. Being rescued in the nick of time rarely happens except in movies, and that kid was beyond lucky.

The prime example of a human who foolishly lived among animals was Timothy Treadwell. He believed he could live surrounded by grizzly bears. He was wrong.

Yep. He was surrounded by grizzly bears, but he definitely wasn't living at that point.

Where my husband used to go in Australia there was a poster that pictured all the snakes to avoid. He said it would have been more useful for it to have had a picture of the one that was ok. 😂 Add to that the toxic mini octos and mini jellyfish in the water there. Plus the venomous spiders? Nope. I'mma just going to move all that to the bottom of my to-do list.

Ditto. I crossed Australia off my Bucket List years ago, and it just gets more and more scary.

Living in Melbourne, Australia currently. A few years back, there was a kid who was just standing in shallow water in Port Phillip Bay whose feet and lower legs were shredded by sea fleas. He lived but had no idea what was happening until he saw the blood.

Hi Kabir, l'm impressed by this guy's research. There was a lady in our church who had elephantiasis. Her legs, from the knees down to her feet were huge. She got it from eating improperly cooked pork. This is one of the reasons many cultures and religions, such as Jews, Moslems, Hindus and others don't eat pork. If it's cooked well, it's perfectly safe.

The most deadly: mosquitoes. was left off the list, ha. Blue ring octopi are no joke. They are gorgeous animals, very unique colourings. They can have you pushing up the daisy, in under 30 mins. We were always told to avoid them like the plague. We've picked up crabs, fish & sea slugs, from the rock-pools, but don't go near the death octopi.

Hyenas belong to neither the canine or feline family. They are a completely distinct species that have four different types of animals. African hunting dogs will grab their prey by the nose and tail and pull in opposite directions to immobilize their prey and then one or more of them will tear open the belly of the animal. I have watched videos where the prey is still standing while it's bowels are being eaten.
@sannakuusela3693Ай бұрын
Although phylogenetically closer to felines and viverrids, hyenas are behaviourally and morphologically similar to canids
@renaissanceman7145Ай бұрын
Polar Bears can only be found in the Arctic, NOT the Antarctic. Edit - The "Big Five" in Africa are the five most dangerous animals to hunt on the Continent. The Big Five are, the African Elephant, the Rhinoceros, the Leopard, the Lion and the Cape Buffalo. (You'd think the Hippopotamus would be one of the Big Five but it's not considered a trophy animal.) Despite being armed with a very powerful rifle and being backed up by a guide who is also armed with a very powerful rifle, the hunter is still at a disadvantage.
