It’s a fallacy that cat’s aren’t affectionate. All of them are different individuals, so some may be more affectionate than others. Most cats will love to sleep beside you (or on you) and will want to sleep in your bed. They make biscuits (knead you) and they’ll rub around your legs and head butt you. Many will “talk” to you and demand that you stroke them, brush them, rub their bellies, etc. While they are all individuals, most breeds have common personality traits. Maine Coons are intelligent and very loyal. I had one for 19 years and I was her person, everyone else was irrelevant. Ragdolls are laid back and follow you everywhere. Both of mine will follow me to every room and cry if I close the door on them. I actually cut a cat door in my bedroom door so they could be with me but leave to go eat/drink/use the litter box. My Ragdolls are from same litter. One will hide when visitors come. The other runs to every human for attention. He will also run out my apartment door and enter any other apartment door that opens on the hall. He goes straight in and makes himself at home. Maine Coons and Ragdolls are both really large breeds. I’ve had shelter cats. I usually pick the most timid/frightened/anti-social one. Then go slow, let them set the pace, make them feel safe and in a few months they’ll be trying to sleep on your head. I love dogs, too. I’ve had a Pekingese and two Saint Bernards. All were wonderful! They were very different but they had a grand time together. That was when I had a huge yard and could let them out whenever they wanted. Living in the city, I prefer cats. They don’t need to go outside. If I did have a dog, I’d opt for a smaller breed that doesn’t need as much space. But walking a dog in my pajamas at 5:30am is just not for me. -- And yes, every now and again I’ll be out at that time to catch a flight or something and there will be people everywhere in their pajamas and a coat, standing half-asleep while their dog does his business on the other end of the leash. It’s quite an amusing sight!

I went to the veterinarian clinic with my cat & a lady walked in with two dogs & her cat on leashes. I told how impressed I was that her cat walked on a leash. She said he kept wanting to go on walks with her & the dogs. So she put a leash on the cat & he walks with her & the dogs every day. I think if you are going to leash train your cat, you need to start when they are young. And it probably would have to be a confident cat.

I agree. It's actually the same for dogs it's just that most people do it. So no one really thinks about that. For a pet that isn't used to having a leash becoming full grown and all of a sudden you want to put a leash on it it's like taking away their freedom.

The trick with dogs is to make the leash something positive. My dog gets really excited when the leash comes out because it means he is going somewhere. I suspect it would be the same for a cat that is restricted to indoors when not wearing a leash.

As a dog owner in a house of 7 dogs that raised all but one from 12-16 weeks old. Puppies are HARD work. They’ll chew your furniture, tear apart your sofa and your bed, cannot be trusted and when you go to bed you gotta shut them in a crate or they’ll do the above while you sleep. The amount of times I’ve woken up over the years where I’ve given them the freedom in the night while I’ve slept and both arms of my sofa are literally torn apart..there’s clear bite marks in my furniture and the house is in shreds is untold. Cats as kittens are no way near as destructive (apparently), they’ll scratch and knock things over but they won’t attempt to destroy your entire house while you’re asleep. You said you’re not around much, so a cat is probably your best choice of the two. Cats are independent and don’t really need much attention. Dogs do. ESPECIALLY when they’re young.

Each has their own unique way of playing and showing affection. If you choose a dog maybe go with a small breed that's low grooming maintainable. Just research the breeds you favor and make sure you know if they hyper or more mellow. Every breed is different in trainability difficulty levels etc. Thanks for the awesome video!

Cat’s meow when they are kittens to get their mother’s attention but what you mentioned is true, as they get older they no longer use that communication between each other. It’s reserved for their humans, cats meow at a decibel level that mimics a human baby’s cry and it gets a response from us (smart kitties) I think if you are time crunched and have a small place, a kitty would be the best, maybe 2 so they can keep each other company while your away

Small dogs are really fun. We have had chihuahuas for 16 years. They will steal your heart but not your wallet... unless they are naughty. We have three and the upkeep costs are very reasonable. Two of our 3 are not into toys so it depends on the dog with the toys. We buy a 30lb bag of food that will last us more than 6 months. We do also buy refrigerated fresh food and it is $10/week. That is to help supplement the extra nutrition needs of our 17 year old dog mostly. I also feed them grilled chicken thighs. In America we can get the chicken on sale and cook it. That is not necessary but it is a welcome treat for them. Dogs make great home alarm systems too. With three Chihuahuas, I don't think that anyone will want to walk into that. 😂 With vet visits, after their vaccines are up to date, we go once a year for a check up and every other year for a dental deep cleaning. Chihuahuas get a bad wrap for being crazy and they can if needed but are also cuddlebugs who are happy to accompany you on a Netflix binge session and nap.

@@kabirconsiders Each cat has it's own personality, but cats enjoy hugging, like they will hold on to you. A couple of my cats can jump onto my shoulder from a table when I snap my finger. Another thing that helps is if you are open to letting the cat rub it's face on yours, as that is one of the ways a cat will grow to feel close to you. You just have to realize an occasional soft bite on your nose might occur. Just say "ay!" and they will continue to hold back their bite strength, people that get mad at soft bites must realize they don't have fingers, so they have limited options for showing affection, and to not misinterpret them kneading your legs with their claws or a soft bite as something to throw the cat off over or yell at them. Some cats will also climb into your jacket to cuddle if you are sitting on a chair and have it just zipped up on the bottom. The people that don't think they are affectionate didn't raise them with love, or the cat just has one of those "don't pick me up" personalities, which is fine. If you get a cat, buy a laser pointer to have em chase when you point it, and one of those plastic rings with a ball in it to play with when you're gone

I brush the dogs, he rolls on the ground next to them asking for his brushing. When dogs and I would leave for the weekend, he’d be so upset as he’d watch me pack up. So excited with constant meows upon our return. Good thing is they can stay home when you take off for a day or two. But not with the dogs. BUT, when I started traveling more frequently and it started affecting my cat (Dexter), I started taking him with us. Surprise, surprise! He liked it!! Kittens meow at their mothers but adult cats normally only meow to their humans when they want something.

Cats Definitely, omg you'll love them . People misunderstand cats, I have 4 Cats . One of my cats once ran down the stairs meowing at the man delivering my groceries. My other cat which is A Siamese he goes underneath my blanket and lays on my chest .

Once litter trained cats will only need to be fed and litter cleaned and petted occasionally. Some cats will sit on your lap, others won't. They are very self sufficient.

If you do get a pet you should consider adopting an older dog or cat from a shelter or rescue. Puppies and Kittens are a lot of extra work and you would also be saving them from a bad fate. My girl and I often go and adopt the oldest dogs we can find so they can have all of the love and treats they deserve that their previous owners decided they didn't deserve simply because they were "old." I just love seeing their eyes light up and the life come back into them when they realize they have a pack again to play and love. Sure they may not live very long but the reward is worth it. Old dogs love the hardest.

You can get a dog walker and if you not home for days you can send the dog on a dog holiday

I’ve only liked three cats in my life. Only one of them was ours. Cats and I usually don’t like each other right off the bat. In my personal opinion, I think you should get a dog. They are so much fun and love you to pieces.

To get a dog you have to make a commitment to being home at regular intervals. When I was young with an active social life there was no way I was at home enough for a dog. Cats fit that life style much more easily. They can be leash trained. Dogs left alone can also pose a problem with their barking in an apartment situation.

Cats sleep at least 18 hours daily. Very low maintenance ❤

Put a harness on the cat and a lot of them will go for a walk. Mine knew it was how it got to go outside.

Whatever you decide to do Kabir please please consider adoption from a shelter. My Toni was the best dog ever (RIP) and trust me they do know what you did for them.

I still Suggest a Maine Coon cat They are huge and act more similarly to dogs. They are the best of both worlds.

I love both cats and dogs, but cats are a lot easier. Kittens mew and meow to their mommy cats when they need something. So now they do it to us.
