@@reallivebluescat Indeed. Some stations in Stockholm are pretty nice (like Kungsträdgården) why others became a bit too cheap and ugly in their postmodern attempts. Pretty sure we invented Kebab Pizza sometime in the late 80ies. Trams used to be a thing in Stockholm, but were replaced by busses in the 60ies? Fairly recently new Tram lines has sprung up, so I guess the Trams are back in town. The concrete Lions are called "Gråsuggor" (an insect, but "Sugga" also means female Pig, and "Grå" means Gray) where I grew up, but are in other areas refered to as "Grisar" (Pigs). Lions have always been a part of the National Coat of Arms, so it makes sense, but sometimes they have the shape of a Cleat or a Boat. The most common way, IMO, to eat a "Semla" is to remove the top and scoop up some of the cream, but some eat them like a burger, and the old way is to eat it sitting in a bowl with hot milk with a spoon.

In Sweden we like sauce on our pizzas, we love sauce on everything! And no, we usually don't dip pizza :) The most common sauce on pizza is bearnaise. When you take the pizza home they usually put the sauce in those little plastic containers. If you eat at the restaurant you sometimes get the sauce directly on the pizza, especially if you didn't order extra sauce. The pizza sallad is just shredded cabbage, it was invented by an immigrant here in Sweden. We swedes always expects sallad with most foods and all pizza places make their own. Recipes varies but it's usually soaked in vinegar with salt and pepper.

The trams in Stockholm is in one way a rather modern way of transport but historically trams have been used since 1877, back then as horsedrawn ommnibuses. 1901 the electricity entered the picture and it led to a wast expansion of the tram net. From world war II the trams were slowly decommisioned until it was handed a death sentence when Sweden abandoned driving on the left side of the road and started driving on the right instead. The tram tracks had to be moved and it was deamed too expensive I guess. However trams are good for the environment as it turned out so the trams made a come back in the 2000s and currently there is 38 km of tracks in Stockholm.

The pizza salad is eaten in three different ways. If you're at the restaurant, you often get a salad buffet that always includes pizza salad, along with items like fresh bread, corn, carrots, pepperoncini, and other similar items, maybe with some dressing. This salad is often eaten while waiting. Some people save the pizza salad for when the food arrives and eat it together, either on the pizza as a topping or on the side. If you bring the food home, I assume most people eat it with the pizza. Either as a topping or on the side. The Sauce is also eaten in different ways. Some put it on top of the pizza as a topping most that is most common. Some use it as a dip but that is less common. When you buy a kebab pizza the sauce is usually already on top of the pizza when it arrives.

Very common to have cheese+marmelade on toast in Sweden. The Trams of Stockholm have ran since 1877, but were almost fully phased out when we went from Left side driving to Right side in 1967. But they have made a resurgance in last 20ish years. Semla (The pastery) is best eaten by placing it in hot milk, and eating it with a spoon, just cut from the top to bottom with the spoon so you get a good cross-section of the pastry in every bite.

"Pizza Sallad" here in Sweden, is a staple. It's made out of Cabbage, marinated in Winager, Oil, Salt, white or black Pepper and often Herbs like Oregano. Sometimes it has other stuff in it like bell pepper (Paprika in Swedish) or something like that. How you eat it! well it differs. Some eat it as an appertizer before the pizza arrive, some has it ON the pizza as some bonus thing, and some eat it as some dessert to clense the pallet. How you eat it is up to you. And pizza with pinapple or banana is one of my favorites. I realy Like the mix of Sweat, Savory, Hot (Chilly), Nuts (Peanuts) and Curry (spices). Its a bit like Indian or Thai food. If you like thouse, then you probably like the Swedish weird Pizzas. But the most famous or popular pizzas in Sweden are probably "Capricciosa" (Ham and mushroom), But a close second I think is the "Hawaii" (Wich is Ham and Pineapple"). Margarita is also popular (plain). Also "Kebab Pizza" (pizza with Kebab seasoned meat, isberg sallad, fresh tomato and cucumber on it) is probably as common as Capricciosa (at least after parties). And pizzas with shrimp or tuna is also rather common. Buth this varies for each region in sweden. But we also have monster pizzas that mix pizza, taco, kebab and pomme frits and more. And some pizzerias also have odd things like Elk or Deer meat pizzas (especually in northern parts). Cheers.

When it comes to pizza salad you can put it on your pizza if you want to or simply eat it before, during or after the pizza. The only case where I myself would put it on a pizza is when I have a Margerita, a calzone(which is Sweden normally is tomato sauce, ham and cheese only) or (as we call it in my local pizzeria back home) a La Mafia which has minced meat, fefferoni, garlic and onions on it. Otherwise I eat it before. As previously stated Swedes usually don't dip pizzas in sauce, we put it on the pizza IF we want sauce on it. A kebab pizza without the sauce isn't a kebab pizza, period.

I too love the combo of cheese and jam or lemon curd. Especially if it’s served with a nice cup of tea. Never tried the burger cheese in this combo though. But I’ll give it a go. 👍🏻😄

Sweden is quite beautiful, especially Stockholm. Stockholm's buildings are mostly simple but still beautiful and colorful so you won't really find any spectacular buildings there. The surrounding nature is also very cute with its parks, waterways, islands, and picturesque forests. While the food scene might not be widely renowned, when places prepare traditional Swedish cuisine properly, it can be quite tasty. Additionally, the food scene is diverse and delicious in general. The capital city has a relaxed atmosphere compared to others in Europe and it's very small, and while there may not be an abundance of activities, the city itself is still very enjoyable in my opinion. If you ever visit Sweden, I recommend coming during early summer when the weather is perfect, and the locals haven't yet departed for their holiday trips.

They're currently working on several new subway stations and city districts, which hints that Stockholm is on its way to becoming quite a big city with more and more to see and do. One exciting project involves repurposing old, stunning gasometers into a massive opera hall and hotel, similar to what was done in Vienna. Not only that, but the whole area and its surroundings are set to transform into a bustling extension of the city. And let's not forget about the world's first wooden city being built in Sickla - now, that's pretty cool. There's so much more happening, and I, for one, find it all pretty fascinating, even if others might not share my enthusiasm.

Best pizza I used to eat was minced meat, pepperoni, salami, shrimp pizza, second best was kebab, minced meat, pepperoni, salami pizza. Third best was a homemade pineapple pizza. But this is not in Sweden but Finland. The Third one was in the 90s, the first on 2000s and the second pizza was last decade delicacy.

For me, coriander (cilantro in the Americas) taste wonderfully Korean and Mexican and nothing like toothpaste. As a Swede, I apparently don't have those proper toothpaste genes. Dwayne - you can have at least some Swedish pizza in the UK. Three Crowns pizza at College Parade, 16 Salsbury Road, London NW6 6RN is run by a Swede (Lebanese actually, which makes him a proper Swedish pizza chef). Check their website first. It's truly authentic.

We're in the same boat.. My two favorite pizzas are tuna with green peppers and jalapeño or another one with chicken, curry, banana and pineapple.. I add cayene spice on it afterwards or home cooked hotsauce. My sig. other is from Vietnam but her favorite is the Swedish classic called "Hawai" that's just tomato sauce, cheese, ham and pineapple.. made one at home yesterday. :) You'll see alot of taco stuff and pizza dough in the stores when you come to Sweden -but the tacos are a clear winner because Swedes just tend to chop everything up and fry the minced meat with the (imo boring) spice mix. Mexican food is popular but for some reason there ain't that many restaurants.. flip it around and you'll find alot of restaurants selling Thai food -but the asian section in the stores are rather small... The sauce is ringled on top of the pizzas (note: not all pizzas come with sauce) but is added in containers when ordering it in the box so it doesnt cool the pizza down or sog it. We don't usually dip the pizza and just as our hamburgers you can find out that many Swedes eat it with knife and fork -but it depends on where you order. For an example you eat with your hands when in McDonalds but if you go to a pub and order a burger it's more common to see people use cutlery. The salad is usaslly eaten to the side just as she does but can be added on some pizzas as well if you like the vinegar taste.. some kebab pizzas have fresh tomatoes and salad on them so they could work with the "pizza salad" but I would still have it on the side... most often you eat it in the restaurant while waiting for your pizza to get to the table and that specific salad is only served in the standard pizzerias.. if you go up in price it's more of a normal salad-bar, but they most often serve it there as well.

If I have a spoon I first put some cream on the kid and eat that first, Then I use a spoon to eat some of the cream and almond-paste and lastly I eat the whole bun with the cream and almondpaste that’s left 😅 But we kind of all eat them a bit diffrently

Pizza sallad is white cabbage in oil and vinegar with black peppar. It's originally a sallad from Croatia/Italy called Kupus Sallata (I think). The reason Swedes have it with pizza is that in the 60s an Italian opened a Pizzeria in Stockholm. He did this cheap sallad for people to eat while they waited for their pizzas. This obviosly caught on and today I don't think any pizzeria in Sweden sell pizzas without it. For Swedes it's a staple with pizza.

We have migrants from everywhere around the world but I would say that the standard swedish taco is inspired by texmex more than mexican food. And then bastardized like we do with every kind of foodstuff =D The underground system in stockholm has been around since the 1950:ies and the trams since the late 1800 early 1900. We like to renew them every so often so that is probably why they look new. The sallad is a pickled (kind of) cabbage sallad. It's either eaten with or on the pizza depending on the person, both works. The sauce is either for dipping or a topping, depending just like the sallad. You remove the lid of the semla, use it as a spoon to eat the most of the cream and then chomp on the rest. That is what most people do atleast. Stockholm is built on and around a lot of water so there are some ferry lines on top of all of the busses, trams and subways. There is even an amphibious bus tour. It is very dry, it's so it would keep during the winter months and now it is part of our identity. The bread comes in loads of flavours and varieties of wholewheatiness.

Tram's has been around for a bit but fairly new, and the tram network is being expanded right now. Those "lions" are to protect us from trucks driving onto these pedestrian only walkways, like the terror attack back on Drottninggatan when someone stole a truck and moved down like 5 people, happened back in 2017. And yes the ferry's use the same card that you use to ride the busses and trams/subway, very handy.

Pizza Sallad is kinda pickled shredded cabbage, with some pepper in it, most eat it as a side dish, a few on top of pizza. The pizza sauce on the side, depend, Garlic or Extra tomato sauce is usually for dipping the pizza, but if you order like a fillet of beef pizza you typically get like béarnaise sauce on the side that you put on the pizza after, but don't cock it with the pizza in the oven. Pineapple, Ham, Banana, Curry, Shrimp with Tomato sauce & cheese, thats my favorite pizza! it's sooo good. But like, a more normal slice of pizza is good too! Kebab Pizza is alright, but not my favorite, prefer to eat normal plate of Kebab with either fries or rice.

The pizzasalad is shredded cabbage that's been pickled with red paprikas in a vinegar, sugar and water mix. So its much more sweet and sour/tart than your traditional coleslaw. The lions are probably based on the royal coat of arms since they're in the capital. Every municipality has its own coat of arms.
