My cat sits near me or lays on me when I'm lounging, sleeps with me at night, greets me when I come home by running toward me talking and rolls around for pets. He follows me into different rooms and we have lots of conversations because makes lots of different sounds (cats can make over a 100, dogs only 10, but this isn't to say ones better). My cat loves chasing fake mice I through to him, loves running in and out of tunnels I've bought for him, he snores A LOT, will sit right next to me sleeping when I play guitar and suddenly wake up when the song is over and give a loud "meow". He's a lynx point siamese, 13 years old, polydactyl front paws, named Boots. I would say he is very affectionate, so was my last cat named Buddy (also a Lynx Point Siamese). My old cat loved being carried and giving hugs, I'd walk around my non fenced in yard with him unleashed and he'd always just stay near me, my new guy probably would be different. Cats are quirky for sure, but they all have their own personalities (just like dogs) and they see the world in a different way, once you understand cats, they are wonderful creatures to spend time with, great companions. I love all animals, but cats I love most, probably just because I think the general house cat holds like 90% of the same dna as it's wild tiger cousins... But in general, yes they are different than dogs. I think people "get" dogs more easily sometimes because they are less independent and sometimes cats take a bad rap for being looked upon for only certain parts of a cats general personality. Once you love a cat and they love you, that trust is the best you can form anywhere as cats are predator and prey animals. So they love to hunt and hide, some love high places for lookouts, mine, he's a cave cat, loves little shelters where he's all under cover. Dogs are great to be fair, for sure, too. Sorry this is long.

I rescued both of my cats from the streets as kittens. My male cat, Gizmo now about 6 years old, was found as a very sick stray when he was between 6-8 weeks old. He had an upper respiratory infection and both eyes were badly infected when he was found alone in a parking lot. He can be affectionate when he wants to be. My female, Meeko about 5 years old was accidentally trapped in our old apartment as a 6-8 week old feral kitten. She is now the most affectionate yet also skittish cat ever. She spends most of her day alone hiding and sleeping but then comes out at night and early morning for cuddles and pets.

These are naughty cats. If you want to see an example of an affectionate cat, look up the channel with the orange tabby "Kermit." My cat, Spanky, did more tricks than my dog, including playing the piano on cue. He did them without a treat, too. There are cats that jump into your arms. There are cats that stand up and open their arms for a hug. There are cats that kiss your face repeatedly. Spanky did that as well. Spanky walked on a leash and befriended several dogs. He preferred large dogs but did befriend one maltepoo. Also, the hairless Sphync cat LOVES water and require regular bathing. There videos of them splashingbwith both paws. Maine Coons, the largest breed, tend to like water. My current cat likes sink water and bathes his forearms in the morning.

@Kabir, cats seem to get the raw end of it. Yes, they can be trained and are very affectionate! They are also more independent and not as high maintenance as dogs. They can also live twice as long as dogs. Don't get me wrong, because of my love for my dog impacted me so much, when she passed I realized that I could not ever get another dog again...but cats are a better pet for me.

The water thing depends on the cat. Most don't like it, but it depends on the cat. My cat ripped a claw out, trying to get out of a bath once. The same dislike of water is true for wild cats, too. Jaguars, for instance, are known to swim and hunt in rivers.

Affection is complicated. Dogs and cats both love you and will snuggle/sleep by/on you...etc. Cats are just more independent about it. Dogs need you 24/7. It's why I always tell people only get a dog or cat based on time you have for them. Dogs require ALOT of time every day. From walking, playing, cleaning up their poo, bathing....etc. Many compare them to having a child in the house that also requires your attention constantly. Cats on the other hand also don't require much attention at all. They use a litterbox, which automatically means they take care of those need themselves, you just have to clean it once a week (depending on the amount of cats you have). My cat as a kitten would sleep on my chest for hours on end. Now he will sleep where I am. By my feet on my bed, on the cushion next to me on the couch...etc. If he wants attention he will meow. Depending on the meow (you can tell afterawhile) it either means "Hey dad I want snuggles" or "Hey did I want to play!". Of course there is also the "Hey dad I'm hungry". Everytime I hold him, it can be for a few minutes or for 2-3 hours he may sleep on me. Purring away. There is even talk in the science community that catt purring actual encourages better bone growth healing, tissue healing, stress reduction, blood pressure reduction, pain relief...etc. I can't pretend to understand the science behind it of course. I'm not saying dogs are bad of course. But, at least in America, they are more costly, take up most of your days, have more issues...etc. Granted if your cat is something you let outdoor, you will also have increased vet costs. Remember to dogs will also roll around in poop or garbage. Or in the mud/general stuff. Thankfully your not in America or you would have to deal with dogs being sprayed by skunks. Which requires a tomatoes juice bath. We watched someones dog for a month if was horrible. Don't get me wrong, I loved the dog. I enjoyed playing with her. But I had to walk her many times a day so she could do her business, she was always bugging me for attention to the point of I wasn't getting anything done. I'd be sleeping and she bark at stuff or need to be walked again. Ugh.

I once had a cute calico kitten when I was 9 years old I called her TIGER, and she loved being around me all the time, this was BEFORE I became a teenager, and I spent every second that I could in the swimming pool in the backyard, and she would run around the deck constantly, one day I found a small tub and floated her in the pool with me, a few days later I drilled a hole in the bottom of the tub, and obviously it sank with her in it, and she swam to the steps and got out, after a few more days of doing this, she got to the point where if I jumped in the pool, she was jumping in right behind me, and I grew up with a cat that would swim with me all the time until I enlisted in the military, unfortunately she passed away from old age during my first assignment which was overseas for 2 1/2 years, but she LOVED being in the water, you have to train them to love the water young, then they have no issues with it.

Kabir, I've had cats my entire life, and no two are the same. I had one that was so laid back a bird could land on his head and he didn't notice, another one that was best friends with my pet rabbit at the time - they washed each other and everything! My current cat is a bit more feisty - she doesn't like her stomach being stroked so she will claw my hand if I attempt it - but she's also the funniest cat I've ever had as well. She insists on her own pint glass on the table full of water - otherwise I get told off, she snores, she's a better alarm clock than my phone and she likes butter - I only found this out when I caught her licking a plate. You'll never be bored with a cat

I grew up with, and currently have, both a dog and a cat. The dog is 100lbs of mutt, that thinks he's a lap dog. The cat is...a cat. Maybe 12lbs. The dog is terrified of the cat, and the cat knows she's in charge. She tends to be "mine" (on lap, in bed on me, sitting next to me) while the dog is "hubby's" (hubby walks him, feeds his one of his two meals a day, and dog lays on top of him while hubby is on the sofa). Seems to be working out okay. His/Hers pets. You never know a kitten's personality until they're older and have been in your home for a while, so it's luck of the draw if your now-cat would like other cat siblings or maybe a doggie companion.

These videos only really show cats when they're being chaotic but cats can also be super smoochy and affectionate, some are super clingy, some like their space and all sleep a lot, but come to you when it's snuggle time or play time. They are intriguing characters and harder to win over than a dog, which makes it feel a bit more special when they choose you as the one, or one of the ones, who they will love and trust. I think the Cat Distribution System is going to find you, Kabir. 😊🐱

They are at least 2 weeks old, I would guess about 3 weeks, after birth, kittens can not see as their eyes have not yet opened, this takes from 10 to 15 days to happen, they also seem to be unsure with their walking, it is pretty unstable, usually kittens get more stable and sure footed between, 18 and 29 days old, so I would guess they are about 3 weeks old, give or take 2 days.

Yes, cats are generally less loyal than dogs, and behave more independently. They are lower maintenance, and can be trained to use a litter box, so you don't need to walk them several times a day. They are also very curious, and are more likely to get themselves in trouble, as seen in the video.

Cats are affectionate- it depends on the cat, same as it does with dogs. Cats are harder to train bc theyre more independant. I can leave my cat alone for a weekend, for example, and hes just fine on hisbown. But he does want me to come home and he follows me around and demands cuddles when its around the time i usually sleep. Cats are creatures of habit- if you have a routine, they pick up on it and match you. Thats why they follow you and sit in your spot etc

Cats being less affectionate is a terrible misconception. My cats are very loving. They just don't always show it in the same way dogs do. Your cat wanting to be near you and to watch what you're doing is a show of affection, whereas if that's all your dog did, it would be seen as aloof. Those kittens at 9:30 are maybe a couple of weeks old. That's how long it takes for their eyes to open.

Cats can be affectionate for sure! They each have different personalities, and some aren't, much, but most are, at least with people they know. We have one who runs for the hills (read: under the bed) as soon as any stranger comes in our house, but otherwise is completely a lap cat when we let him and loves pets and kisses and attention. The thing that characterizes dogs but not cats is that absolutely full-throttle excitement to be with their human and do anything their human wants to do. Cats have their own likes and dislikes and are unlikely to love something just because you like it, lol. I love (other people’s) dogs but I don't need the constant validation that I’m the be-all and end-all of something’s existence. I feel like I should call you out just a little because I've been watching your old videos and it's at least two years you've been thinking about getting a cat, no? Do it! I very much think you are capable of being a cat person and I wish you the fluffiness and fulfillment and true satisfaction of getting a cat to love you. :) If you are like me and need to know everything you can before you undertake something like that, look up Jackson Galaxy. He's a bit silly and “My Cat from Hell” is a sensationalistic name for a show, but he’s truly a cat whisperer and watching a few episodes would give you a good idea of what kinds of challenges owning a cat can bring and how best to face them.

When it comes to cats they are just as affectionate towards humans as dogs and it really comes down to 2 differences, dogs follow pack mentality and are submissive to the pack leader and dogs have undergone 10s of thousands of years of domestication and so a dog will love you unconditionally and will let you do what you want and it will submit to your actions, wild cat's are often solitary creatures and do not live in permanent packs but they can form mutually agreed social groups where there is no leader and there is also the thing that cats have never actually been domesticated. This means a cat will love you and it will allow you to touch it so long as it is on its terms but as soon as it is had enough or you do something it does not like it will make sure you have the scars to remember your mistake.

I hate those awful sound effects and goofy laughs. If it’s funny, it’s funny. 📻😐cats can be very affectionate, but on their own terms. Cats all have different personalities, just like humans. Some cats actually like water. All cats are naturally good swimmers. But cats are fiercely independent. Some have to do with species. Some cats are very mellow, some are hyper. I’ve had both dogs and cats. It’s believed that cats think differently. They have less long-term memory, and the way they relate is totally different. They also have less comprehension of a “right vs. wrong “, in the same sense as we, or even dogs do. They are very interesting. The cat I have now, loves to sit outside in the rain. 📻🙂

I'm sure cats have something or other that some people like, but I'll take a dog any day of the week. A dog is a lot more of a companion than a cat. A dog will go with you anywhere, and do any activity you're doing, and make it even more fun.
