UK foreign secretary David Cameron met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a joint press conference, where he urged Congress to approve a further $60 billion support package for Ukraine, warning that if they didn’t, Russian president Vladimir Putin may well win the war.
Cameron also met with former president Donald Trump, in what has been described as “a private meeting that was in line with the precedent of ministers meeting with opposition politicians”.
The Spectator’s deputy editor, Freddy Gray thought that David Cameron realised he had messed up on a previous visit to the United States by offending many Republicans, when he told them not to be like historic Britain who appeased Hitler.
The conference didn't work though, as Cameron didn't get the meeting he needed with the most important person involved with the aid package, the US House of Representatives speaker, Mike Johnson.
Freddy Gray said on the UK’s relationship with the US: “Britain makes a big mistake by thinking that America thinks a lot about us.”
