I know at least half of Brits didn't want this. I'm over here in Canada, where we saw through the fog of lies and fantasies. We truly believed that the overwhelming majority would understand the Leave campaign was built on quick sand.Unfortunately in England, as in America, there are many people who choose to accept whatever garbage they hear without investigating the truth. Of course hate crime is going up. The racists in your country were just given carte blanche to attack anyone who isn't white or protestant. They are living their dream. I'm afraid that all the intelligent people who voted Remain will have to gather together to do what they can to save what they can. I also think that, sadly, a lot of you should do your best to get out of Britain. Go to Scotland, Wales, Ireland. Because England is going to come apart. Some bits of it are staying in the EU. Where do you want to be?

The bus thing pisses me off. They're not even accountable to the advertising watchdog, because political adverts (the ones with the potential to do most harm) are exempt.
@smith5493718 жыл бұрын
The bus didn't even lie. It said "let's fund our NHS instead" it does not say "let's spend that £350m on the NHS". You would have to be only semi literate to believe that's what it meant. The NHS was just an example of where funds could be spent. Secondly, Farage wasn't in the campaign that produced that advert. He had a separate campaign. It literally had nothing to do with him. Even if it did, he can still not promise where any budgets are spent because he's not in a position to do so. He is not our prime minister. Thirdly, if anyone made their voting decision based on the quip on the side of a bus without looking into anything, then they are a complete idiot. If you think that that bus swayed many people then I think you'll find that you are very much mistaken.

The will of the people is sovereign in the UK once again. it is not respected in the EU nor is it respected by the US federal government. one of many examples is that for 30 years there has been a majority of people asking for action to be taken on illegal immigration. yet instead we have busses picking up illegals at the border and dropping them off in American cities, the Terrorist that recently attacked my state actually worked for a security firm doing just that. we have no borders and our government acts based on the will of foreign powers and corporate interests. the people are not fought for and their will is not respected. but now due to this vote the British people's will has to be respected again and we need to do something similar so the American people are truly represented once again.

We're getting out. Scotland's going to have another independence referendum and hopefully we'll leave UK and rejoin the EU.

Which will take about 10-15 years. That's 10-15 years during which Scotland will be neither part of the EU nor the UK. Can you imagine what impact this would have on the Scotish economy?
@rdelrosso20018 жыл бұрын
Why would it take 10 to 15 years? The Scottish Referendum in 2014 happened pretty quickly. I would expect Scotland to leave the UK by later 2016, or early 2017, before the UK leaves the EU.
@Zimionz8 жыл бұрын
rdelrosso2001 The EU made it very clear that Scotland would be treated as a new applicant for membership if they had voted for independence back in 2014. If they now voted for independence the same rule would apply. Simply because the EU doesn't want other regions in Europe to declare independence as well. If Scotland became an idependend state an entirely new deal would have to be struck, without all the benefits and opt-outs the UK was granted. This would take at least 10 years.
@joachimschoder8 жыл бұрын
I don't think the same rules apply. Letting Scotland back into the EU would serve as a giant middle finger to the UK and clearly show other countries what would happen if they left.

@hopdevil0078 жыл бұрын
h xassan If you get political information from comedians you are politically immature. I suggest instead of doubling down on this you go out and get some real political information that is not served to you in the form of a punchline. You basically just called me, and anybody who does not think Bea is funny, a bigot. You managed to set up a straw man and use ad hom at the same time. Congrats on mastering logical fallacy. Just because people don't align themselves with your own inexperienced world view does not mean they are a bigot. This kind of myopic attitude that you have adopted does not make you broad minded or morally superior. It just demonstrates that you don't understand logic or debate. She is not funny to people who understand the issues. Most people don't find obvious propaganda funny. The natural reaction when somebody tells you a lie is NOT mirth. This would explain the heavy use of synthetic laugh tracks in post production. The sycophantic fan boys need a cue to let them know when to laugh.

The UK no longer has a manufacturing base, it doesn't have the products, it lacks the skilled workers, etc etc etc and it most certainly doesn't have the markets for the fresh air it exports. Why shouldn't I be worried about the future when the UK is over £ one trillion in debt ?

… again, Nigel Farage was not part of the Leave campaign.. they did not want him. He therefore was independently campaigning for Brexit.. the promises made on the side of that bus were not his.. that's why he said it was a mistake.. you can't break a promise you did not make

I am a British Citizen and in my opinion, many of you are missing the point. This is SATIRE!! It is, in my opinion, brilliantly funny and very, very clever. It is the very essence of the word. Here is what it means: "the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues". Thank you m' lud, I rest my case.

In Wales there is a call for a second vote, since the stay campaign didn't do anything here. They decided to tell Welsh people after the vote how much the EU does. Because that's how you convince people to vote stay apparently?
@schwartzhoffsteven8 жыл бұрын
And the last 40 years was not enough? If Wales is like anywhere in Central Europe or Ireland, every other rock has a sign on it saying that it was financed by the EU. Ignorance is not a good excuse.

So in other words: "We want another vote, because we did not inform *ourselves* and it's their fault."
@dimavasilev53428 жыл бұрын
***** Look, I don't agree with a revote since democracy has spoken even if I don't like it and know that my country will now collapse inward. But I really detest the "we did not inform ourselves" argument. Many people don't have the free time to be able to do research, some lack the knowledge (like my grandparents) to be able to use technology that would help research, and many don't see through propaganda (whether ignorantly or deliberately). From my perspective, there has been a gross failing by the media to cover the EU for decades. So many people voted out just because they didn't know who anybody was, what the laws were, and how the system operated. If our papers and news networks had covered the EU parliament in a similar way to how they cover UK politics, we might have had less of a problem. When it comes down to it, not everyone has the time or the brain to do their own research and see through propaganda, so like it or not, the media should have been forced to put the basic facts to the lowest common denominator. Instead, they ran with the Boris vs. Cameron narrative that largely reduced the debate to careers rather than future consequences. That and Owen's absolutely right, there was very little campaigning for Remain here regarding the Welsh situation. Nobody came round explaining how the valleys benefit from EU support and everyone was instead fed the Anglocentric arguments on TV and in the papers and flyers.
@ashleytwo8 жыл бұрын
In fairness there are EU flags on all the things that have received EU funding so you could notice it by...leaving the house. More work was needed on all sides. The Remain campaign should have reached out more and spoke about the benefits. Local MPs should have done the same (they'd be acutely aware of how much of their finances comes from the EU) and voters should have done their own research, be that on the internet or reading a variety of newspapers (i.e. not just one source).

"their morning news hosts are allowed to say 'propaganda' and ask follow up questions?" - this is an epic point, sad that she has to point out this fundamental difference between another country's news and ours, but epic. That conversation initiated by a reporter would NEVER happen on FOX news; too confrontational. Which is ironic considering the UK is notorious for being so mild mannered.

This woman earns a living being very disrespectful to not only other countries, but also her own. In this video, she will mock and belittle the everyday people who have voted for their country's future, despite knowing nothing about them, the circumstances which led to their decision, or even what life in that country is actually like. Stay tuned for more appallingly derisive and insulting remarks on a number of topics.
