Indeed. Not only that, the video interchanges "the UK", "Britain" and "England and Wales". Even if the "Roman name" nonsense were correct (it isn't since aside from anything else - that name being 1,500 years out of date for instance - as others point out, "Roman Britain" at various times _didn't_ include Wales and _did_ include parts of Southern Scotland), the video doesn't adhere to that anyway. those 22.09% is calculated by dividing the Delta between 2021 vs 2011 absolute figures WITH the 2011 figures. while the 13.01 pctg points is just simply derived by deducting 59.3% with 46.2%. both just mathematically similar, it is just how it is delivered correctly with nuanced. But, I prefer the percentage points changes instead of delta percentage as suggested here. It is more reflective of getting demographic views of England and Wales. It is just easier to be understood. Delta percentage is usually used for Finance and Accountings such as Revenues,Costs, etc.

I'm surprised about the deprived household statistic, especially considering the Covid 19 pandemic and the economic problems everyone was experiencing in that year I would have thought that there would be more deprived households in 2021 than 2011. In fact, it makes very little sense. Perhaps the taboo around poverty and individualist ideology has made people too embarrassed to acknowledge their deprivation on census, or maybe the census was carried out poorly (by accident or perhaps on purpose).
@JBAIMARK32 жыл бұрын
Well though in ways broad, it's maybe not covering all aspects of deprivation, it doesn't really sound like it covers not being able to afford food or heating, which in this economy could be the case for a well-educated mentally and otherwise physically healthy person pulling around 20k, or someone in significant debt. I'd also say that I'm skeptical the census reaches people in trailer/caravan parks, people between homes/homeless, and people living in places they shouldn't illegally (in cramped conditions) not wishing to be booted out.

Regardless of race and religion(although they may be a key factor), national unity and a sense of belonging to the same group is primordial when it comes to create strong national states. A "diverse" nation where people belong to different groups and have no feelings of belonging to the same group is not a nation at all. I'm not saying that everyone has to be on the same page on everything, but at the very least share some core values. You cannot have group of white nationalists, a group of black supremacists and a group of Jihadists in the same room and expect them to get along, and I'm using these examples not because they are exceptional(in democracy), but because in the eventuality of a war or a crisis, extremists are always key players in social change. And more often than not, and i'm sorry to be brutally honest here but nation states and the idea of nationality are created through war not democracy. Either through people getting together under the same cause and sharing the same values and fighting another group(be either local or foreign) or through conquest(either being conquered or conquering another nation). So to sum it up, having a "diverse" nation is not ideal and can be really problematic in the long term, specially in times of crisis and upheaval

@@Arinussy I don't think everyone should be the same. But everyone being radically different is not good either. Societies are more stable with homogeneous groups. Otherness almost always brings conflict or contempt in the long term. What unifies societies are common interests, and if culture a says a and culture b says b, there is only conflict. Either culture a submits to b or viceversa. Of course they can always agree on C but that would imply the creation of culture C because it cannot be the values of either of the 2 previous cultures as they are diverse. To give you a quick example, in Britain Muslims and Christians and atheists live along each other, but Muslims cannot drink alcohol due to their religion, so even if Muslims were to be agreeable with most aspects of British culture, they cannot partake in one of their core traditions which is drinking culture in pubs, so they have their own places to do things that are allowed in their religion(such as smoking). That creates parallel societies as these are social spots where people form bonds and share common interests. Pub goers and shisha place goers will operate in two completely different social groups. And since there are barely if any common interests, conflict is more likely to happen
@Arinussy2 жыл бұрын
@@lostinthesupermarket Smoking might be allowed in Christianity but in Islam it’s pretty frowned upon as it is damaging over a long term. But is stability in a society good? If we all operated on the same viewpoint and the government had the same viewpoint, regardless of the morality of that viewpoint, is that good? What would inspire change? While it's true that instability can bring change and development it's also true that it can bring destruction or devolve societies. But stability with the right mind is far more productive than instability and strife. Most revolutions in history have been bloody and messy, and had mixed outcomes. While peaceful stable transitions had much better outcomes on average. You can even see that with the French Revolution, most republics that overthrew their monarchs had a much harder time developing their nations in comparison with countries that modified their constitutions to allow a peaceful transition into a parliamentary monarchy

All your materials even show show England and Wales, your census paper says England on it and the census webpage you show @1:10 says england and wales, even though the page also mentions UK armed forces and veterans (guessing its because the data "belongs" to the UK armed forces). @@KateeAngel it used to, but as I'm sure you well know, language changes, what you're talking about is socialism or Marxism if you take it further. @Odyssey-tr8mt2 жыл бұрын
@@Norf.F.C.Zoomer left wing doesn't mean 'mass immigration" necessarily at all it just more accepting immigrants coming to fill jobs that UK citizens are not doing (filling labour shortages). Tories have been doing the same unofficially because otherwise you won't have nurses and truckers etc but publicly they vilify immigrants to appeal to their base. It's dumb.
@Norf.F.C.Zoomer2 жыл бұрын
@@Odyssey-tr8mt they're only not filling those jobs because it's far to easy to be on the dole or on the sick. You realise that mass immigration is what supresses the wages of nurses right? It makes perfect sense. LOL. In fact multiculturalism and "tolerance" make way less sense. In an ethno-state you live in a country with people who share your genes. There is enough genetic similarity for your genes to be best preserved and passed through breeding with someone similar to you and yet there is enough diversity for you to not suffer from certain blood-mixing deceases like the Habsburgs did for example. Weather you call it evolution, Darwinism or natural law it is scientifically proven that nature wants us to pass our genes and survive. Multiculturalism just deludes your genes over time.
@josejoao16212 жыл бұрын
@@cowboybeboop9420 My friend, I hate to break this to you, but in terms of genetics, it is more beneficial for you to have a diversity of genes. In fact, the majority of genetic disorders is due to not enough diversity in genes, what we may call the inbreeding. If you are talking about infectious diseases, sure. People from different geographic areas can transport different diseases. But that has been mitigated by the fact that people are moving anywhere all the time. Disease are getting increasingly universal, and less geographically contained. We can also thank vaccines for not have to worry about it that much. So I disagree with you my friend. I was not looking at it through a genetic point of view at all. I was talking more about the moral realm.
