The UK is the fifth wealthiest country in the world. Politicians have been blaming immigrants for the state of the country for years when all the time they and their friends have been robbing the country blind. How have they been able to get away with it? Because the gullible believe what they say about immigrants and vote for the real robbers. Austerity has been governments policy, immigrants do not make government policy and this is the result. Educate yourself.

All pensioners get a winter fuel payment between 250 to 600 pounds a year and the lady who only gets £700 a month would be eligible for pension credit, her rent paid and her council tax paid.
@kevinh96Ай бұрын
There are schemes, such as a winter fuel allowance, social tariffs for those less well off but the problem is an awful lot of pensioners don't want to claim them, many see it is charity or shameful to do so having worked their entire lives. The fact that many of these schemes designed to help can be complex to apply for or have to be done online when a huge number of pensioners aren't online is also a huge barrier to many who should be claiming them.

prices always go up but they never come down!
@joeh9009Ай бұрын
Once you understand economics and the financial industry you will know why prices cannot come down nor will the Goverment ever allow prices to come down. The older generation are ignorant to these facts of life where they think prices will be the same as the 70's or 80's or even 90'.

The government to blame they don't care about them because they served their purpose as workers paying tax into system. Sooner the pensioners die the better they see it then they don't have to give them anything. It's corrupt and disgusting the way they treat them .they just wasted 700 million on immigration to Rwanda what hasn't happened. That could of help the pensioners.

Some of these pensioners have a good sized yard with their properties. Why can't they garden if they are physically able, even if a little? They have pets that they can afford to feed, but not themselves? They live in large houses and flats that they can't afford to maintain and heat. Unwilling to rent out part of their homes to boost their incomes and solve their loneliness? Able to buy toys at a flea market to collect, but can't afford to eat or heat. Many of these people did not invest in a retirement savings account but chose to spend their money during their working years on pubs, gambling, cigarettes and nonsense. These same people fuss about and gladly watch the Royal Family grow immensely wealthy and increasingly removed from the reality of their loyal subjects on their tax dollars and can't imagine living without them. Would gladly starve and freeze to death so that they can watch their costume and jewelry shows. Priorities in this society are faulty with no basis in reality Quality of life and per capita income now the lowest of the G7 countries.

If a business owed someone money and didn't pay them that would be considered criminal, but if the government doesn't let pensioners know what they are entitled to that is considered cost saving?

People on sickness benefits, especially claiming for mobility to can afford all those essentials the pensioners truly need. Most pensioners are not so capable as they were and do need help, always requiring payment. The lady on 700 pounds a month is not on the normal rate and would get pension credits, help with rent and council tax. The pensions do not cover our rising cost of living, other than meeting the very basic needs. Its worse than people realise for pensioners than people imagine. I am glad at least there are bus passes and wish there would be similar free access on trains. I feel so sorry for friends having to work a few jobs because of their being hard up.
