I do NOT understand why some people felt "gutted" by this short version of a POTO performance. They only had a certain amount of allotted time since the larger amount of time was being spent on the larger cast of Les Miz in order to promote the Dec. 5th concert. No, the Phantom segment wasn't perfect; however, Christine sang on pitch, and the Phantom's part was virtually cut down so much that he barely had anything to do except yell "Sing!!!" I did enjoy the gentleness in which he handled Christine, which is something not often seen. It just made me miss live theatre all the more. Btw, who was playing Christine and the Phantom?

Agreed. They're voices are unique and divinely wonderful, both of them as well as Rebecca Caine and Colm. I can recognize their voices godspeed. The current Phantoms and Christines have nothing special about them, and most of them sing out the notes aggressively, it feels as though they just want to show off their vocal abilities. I still can't understand the hype over the 25th anniversary POTO performance. There was no elegance in the delivery, the love, the pain, it all seemed artificial to me. And the singing for the most part was just aggresive belting with no smooth transitions. There were some parts that sounded nice, but they were only small fragments.

While most actresses do sometimes sing over their recording, it is ALWAYS prerecorded. The beginning is too low for most actresses, and some can’t always hit the E. The only time I’ve actually seen an actress hit the E live in concert is Sofia Escobar, and then occasionally Rachel Barrel when she was Christine.
