You've got to laugh how we Brits redevelop and bring these things "up to date", just for boozing 😃 These Piers have become the Wetherspoons of the seaside. It's right what they say tho, end of the Pier shows were smashing. Good live shows for a small fee, and you were entertained. You weren't charged a fortune to watch dull modern comics. Summer seasons were magical for kids back then. Look at what we've got to choose from now...Funny how many seaside Piers around this country have had mysterious fires, and sometimes more than a couple. Same with seaside hotels and arcades. Funny, that.

In the 1960s and 1970s all the TV stars were on at The Yarmouth Britannia Pier Theatre. Those stars were on TV all the time and then went on summer seasons end-of-the-pier shows. So there was no shame in appearing in Yarmouth. Us kids could buy tickets from pocket money and go and see a show. It could have been The Britannia where we saw Frankie Howerd and went to get his autograph. When he saw us he looked horrified and ran away 😊 Some good turns were on there down the years - all gone and look what we're left with now.

Its a lovely landmark that's for sure, I walked around it many times with my parents and grandparents now sadly all deceased so it always brings back lovely memories. But it has to be said that things have changed and not all for the better. But hey, no matter what it will always be the keeper of memories for generations of families from all over, and that has to be the most important thing of all.

so true, but I think that is due to all the British people now going abroad spending money rather than supporting their own country.
