Carl Spencer sadly missed but not forgotten, A true inspiration to Technical Diving

46:18 to 46:34. so true. Britannic lived her short life in Titanic's shadow... a tragic sad truth but at the same time since her sinking and expeditions that followed she's gained her own fame and even so well over 100 years since, Britannic has slowly emerged from her sister's shadow is no longer the forgotten twin of Titanic.

I would also love to dive this exceptional wreck. I have dived many other wrecks across the UK and the world, but this would be fantastic to accomplish. My understanding is that the restrictions placed on this wreck by the Greek authorities make it very difficult and expensive to plan, organise and conduct, but not impossible. The most similar wreck that I have dived is the Moldavia. Although not a sister ship to the Britannic & Titanic, the Moldavia, a P&O luxury liner, it was similarly requisitioned by the British Navy in the First World War as a hospital ship and was sunk by German naval action in the English Channel off the coast of Littlehampton. She sits in approximately 52m, less than half depth of the Britannic, so much easier to dive, even on open circuit and does not require any special permissions to visit. At that depth the visibility can be quite good. On one dive several years ago I believe we had well in excess of 20m water clarity.

Britannic 2003 Expedition. Many claim this to be the most successful expedition to the wreck, the expedition that solved the mysteries where evidence was discovered why Britannic sank and why she sank so fast. Originally distributed by Carlton Television. Film has been converted from VHS, please note, footage is a little shaky for the first 5 mins or so then settles down.

We need a HD 3D video of Britannic. That would show all the full detail with a robot to explore the interior.

@@Haroldmogerson nobody is denying that. the guy was there and we already knew that it was a mine field. your comment is misplaced as a reply to mr. bishop.

What does it matter to the Greek government how long they dive on the ship?? They shouldn't have any say so about it and whoever found it should have all rights to it!! Damn politicians are just ignorant!!!

The ship can still be labeled SS. HMHS was temporary while SS is always there as long as the ship is steam powered.

minoin Boi's If I've heard correctly, ships are referred to as 'she' because of an ancient Greek tradition of either dedicating ships to the goddess Athena are invoking her protection over them.
@soovi45224 жыл бұрын
Yes, most ships are "shes" but some ships were called "He's"
