The World Worm Charming Championships

A small town called Willaston in Cheshire every year hosts the rather wonderful World Worm Charming Championships.
The rules are very simple; Competitors are each allotted a 3 x 3-meter plot and given thirty minutes to charm the slimy creatures' topside.
No worms were hurt during the Championships and are given their freedom after the event.
These are the rushes from the day.

We do it in the united states in the south we call it worm fiddling or worm grunting. We saw down a small tree then rub a rock against the stump of the tree or saw vertically down the stump to summon the worms.

the reason worms surface is they want to escape moles and other ground living mammals from catching them underground. they are safe above ground from the boles.... but still vulnerable... birds are keen too!
