You never forget your first 747 flight! Mine was with Northwest from Gatwick to Boston, and I shall never forget the moment I stepped aboard and realised I couldn't actually see the back of the aircraft! It's a shame those majestic beasts are gradually disappearing from the skies. ☹

@@JTsJourneys Haha...it was December 27th 1986 and was my Christmas present from my dad, a trip to go and visit my British cousin who was at university north of Boston. It was also my first time flying alone, and strictly speaking the flight attendant shouldn't have been serving me beer (according to US laws I was underage), but it didn't seem to stop her! 😁

There are plenty of trip report videos all over KZbin, but yours come across as just a normal bloke (and I mean that in a good way!) who just wants to share his love of aviation and travel with others. Personally I'm finding that really refreshing and relatable! Keep it up mate!

My first two flights on BA many, many 😉 years ago was on a 747. First one kind of scared me ‘cause it was only my second time flying and when I saw how big the plane was😳😳😳. The second time it was with my sis. We checked in so early (long before online check in) that we got put in the hump, which I know now wasn’t that big of a deal but it was to us. I hope I get to fly one again before they completely retire them.

I miss her too. I have a modal of one of them. I never got the chance to fly on one. But I will hop on Luftansa's jumbo one of these damm days. Its a shame that a lot of planes are being turned over to the scrap man.

@@JTsJourneys Yes, but not on BA. I've flown the 747-400 on Virgin Atlantic & Air New Zealand. Also flown the 747-100 on Iran Air and the 747SP on Syrianair back in the day! I can truly say this is the plane that made me fall in love with Aviation! I'm glad you managed to fly on one before their retirement :)

Very much gutted I didn’t get to fly on the BA 747 before they were all retired :( however, I do live near Cardiff airport and was lucky to see around 6 of them parked up during lockdown, all a stones throw from the perimeter fence. My goal now is to fly on an A380 before they disappear too!

Thank you! Overall i'd say heathrow, it's much easier to get in and out of, and it's usually quicker to depart from than Gatwick, plus the terminals are much nicer. What's your preference?

@@JTsJourneys I live a couple of hours away from London and I've flown from Gatwick and Heathrow (I stayed over night). I prefer Gatwick because I can see more when I'm there and I think it's a better airport in my opinion.✈

Can’t believe BA retired all it’s 747’s. It’s a very sad day. Amazes me that American airports are really lacking in retail amenities compared to their European counterparts. Missed opportunity.
