BRITISH AIRWAYS A350-1000 World Traveller! 12 hours from London to Hong Kong

My first time on the World Traveller economy class product on British Airways' Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on the 12.5 hour flight from Heathrow to Hong Kong. Safe to say I was a bit disappointed with the overall experience compared to Cathay Pacific on the same route despite the recent drop off in service quality of the later.

We also weirdly had the manual demonstration when I was recently going to Washington on the A380 and then back again from JFK on their oldest 777. I much prefer the screen one.

Flew on that flight on 02/04 with the exact same services in terms of safety demonstration, meals and so on. I was extremely disappointed by the food (tasted like sainsburys microwave rice) and the wooden cutlery. The seat was very narrow (baring in mind I am very skinny) and I was not comfortable thorough out.

Worried after watching your report, will be flying BA A350 next week seated on 33k and i am 6ft. Extremely poor meal service is another worrying factor.

How did you get on? I'm flying BA to Vegas next year and i'm 6ft 2 World Traveller Economy. An upgrade doubles the flight price!

Where was the bread roll and bottled water for the breakfast service? BA have been cutting corners and it shows.. yikes. Have two flights with them soon between LHR and HKG/SIN, the last time I flew with them to HKG was like 15 years ago so I will see how much they have gone downhill. During that time, flew with Cathay as their economy baggage allowance was generous at 30kg, but Cathay prices have gone up significantly compared to pre 2020 so went with BA to and from LHR..

i am surprised that BA still using human oxygen mask demonstration rather than video presentation in the wide body jet.... ? Did BA charge you with window seat and checked in luggage ? And How's overall experience compared to Cathay ? But A350 still the most comfortable wide body long haul jet to fly with. Great review!!

One 23kg bag was included in my ticket, my seat cost £51 but there are cheaper ones available. Overall experience was definitely worse than Cathay in almost every department.

Good trip report! Not surprised by the poor service. Everything feels a bit low cost on a 12 hour flight. BA flights were pretty much always never on time. What camera did you use? Looking forward to your next video! Greetings from London! (I'm from HK as well) 😊

I've done the caribbean recently on their 777/200, and have to say that the economy product is beyond terrible with them. Limited legroom, poor service, and when the one in front reclines their seat, it's almost impossible to enjoy the experience. I have decided that the last journey I made with them in economy, will be the last !

BA, in my opinion, would regain its former glory as "the world's favorite airline" if it would revamp its Economy class with the WTP seats that, upon reclining, don't infringe on the passenger's space sitting directly behind along with at least 33-34 inches of pitch. Also, it should improve its Economy catering options by allowing customers to pre-order high-quality WTP meals with metal cutlery. What about World Traveller Plus? Keep it as an upgrade alternative for those wishing for extra legroom and enhanced meal service.

@@oryxflyer In economy? I think you should prepare for a very uncomfortable trip. The 787 in economy on BA is very tightly packed, I've struggled with it o shorter 7/8 hour flights.

@@catarinav7947 it’s not 5k more. But even disregarding premium cabins, people travelling economy will almost always buy the cheapest fare they can find. This forces the airlines to be as cheap as possible. Economy product has been made worse by consumer behaviour.

Buddy you complain about the food on this flight. You were Economy cattle hauler section. If you wanted better should have gone Premium Economy. I don't know why you flyer's complain about the flights when you book the cheapest seat. You want better service pay the little extra which is not a lot difference price and fly Premium. Trust me you'll enjoy flight more and be better rested.

If you've experienced cattle class enough, you would know when your food is considerably worse in comparison to other airlines. In this instance it seems perfectly reasonable to flag complaints because people would be less likely to pick BA if the quality is considerably worse than the likes of CX, EK, QR or any other airline for that matter on the same route.

@@oryxflyer Agreed it all depends what airline your are flying with and the route. What I am saying Economy Class is the lesser option no matter what airline and how good or bad the food service is. Premium Economy is better still, then Business Class ect ect. I've had meals Economy Eva Air, Cathay Pacific and they were actually very good. And again I've flown then regional flights and food service was poor. BA is like Air canada their Economy Class is poor no argument there.

This is why I don't travel much these days its just a terrible experience overall, bad food, dirty toilets and non-stop screaming babies and young kids. British Airways planes and services are probably among the worst and dirtiest Airlines in the world. The two best across the board for service and cleanliness were JAL and Emirates Airlines, just my opinion. I never use easyJet, Ryanair etc. as that is just a totally inhumane way to travel, I save up or I don't go anywhere, it is not worth it anymore. As for some cities in Spain charging a tourist tax, well I refuse to pay that,Spain should be grateful that British tourist money built their country up from Dust and dirt like it was when I first went there in the 1970,s.
