Hi Cassandra. It is so refreshing to see how positive you are about the job. I am your colleague at BA and this month I have been with BA for 25 years. Like you I still love my job. Hope to see you at the CRC one of these days and have a coffee and a chat. Happy flying!!

I like your positive vibe. I clicked on your video and wondered if it would be like some other crew videos I've watched where they were moaning mostly about the cons. I've been like, darling, if you're crew ONLY for travel, you got it all wrong. We do work hard and the pros outweigh the cons if you're in it generally because you love it! I love it all, the irregular hours, the different routines all the time, the travel and meeting people, the customer service. Most of all, I love the life style. Being a crew has built me up in a lot of ways... I took a break from flying for a while to pursue other dreams but I'm back again. I just couldn't stay away! Hope to fly with you some day :-)
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Declan-Kayode Keegan heeey so lovely to read your comment and I completely agree with you! Thank you ! I totally agree with you It’s about having a love for the other things that come along with it! The irregular hours, sometimes being called off standby and not knowing where you’re going to, the excitement that I still have of seeing where to next when the rosters come out and also meeting so many personalities in which I think we learn from! I definitely get what you mean when you say it’s built you up and there is nothing like serving and delivering one in which you also see adds to someone’s travel experience! It’s a GREAT feeling! Are you British airways too? Welcome back to the flying world and I also hope we get to fly together soon too! Also thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment always appreciated! Xxx

Aww thanks so much! Yes, I'm joining the British Airways family this summer and I can't wait!!! Still on the subject of things I love about my job, permit me to share an experience. There was a day I just finished a two there-and-back sector and I decided I need much deserved drinks with friends at the pub, especially since I was off duty the next day. I literally just took the first sip of my pint when I received a call from crew control. My heart sank. I was asked to position to Johannesburg that night. I jumped at it, lucky I was not drunk already. I had to leave my drink with my friends. They were jealous that out of the blues I was off to South Africa, LOL! I love my job!
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Declan-Kayode Keegan looking forward to seeing you in the summer and hopefully flying with you! I totally concur on when you get called off of standby and it’s somewhere fun to go to too! Usually with BA they have an allocated time in which the call you for standby (home or airport standby) so it’s always like a game of Russian roulette! So nice to feel your warmth and excitement for being back and also sharing your experience too! Thank you❤️

Hi Cassandra Nina. I have just recently been provisionally offered a cabin crew position with BA on my second attempt and at the tender age of 48!!!! I have found this video of yours so informative and incisive as to what working for BA is really like and i am more convinced than ever that i want the job if i pass all my checks. I hope maybe that we could meet in person working on a flight to some far flung destination. You really are very glamorous. Things that i would like to know are first what are the essentials for cabin crew to have in their baggage? How does airport and home standby work? Also, if you do know, what's it like for guys working cabin crew for BA? Anyway,all the best to you and i look forward to seeing and hearing more of your adventures!
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Mark Lukjanczuk heeey Mark and thanks for checking in! First and foremost a big fat massive CONGRATULATIONS on getting through! I’m almost sure you’ll be fine with your checks, it may take a while but it is so different for every one! love the fact that you reapplied again and got through a second time and really hope others that may have not get through the first time see your comment and feel encouraged to try again! Okay so essentials to have for work would be your gillet (which is what you were for the service) for ladies it’s gillets, hat and cabin shoes as we are always in heels off the aircraft! You may then wish to carry an iPad or a print out of the PAs in case you end up being given the positing (work role) for that flight to have to say the PAs! Depending if it is long haul you will probably want extras....tooth brush, cologne etc to freshen up once you’ve had your crew rest, your jumper to wear in case you get chilly and the little torch for the night service (which is compulsory) as it gets dark and the light are turned off for the evening flights! For short haul it is advisable to sometimes have your bare essentials like I now carry my glasses contact lenses and toiletries as you never know and sometimes (very very rarely) may have to stay somewhere if for example the weather does not permit a flight back home (this has never happened to me) Now home standby is where on you wait at home within a 6 hour period to see if you will he called out to fly somewhere! You have to have your things prepped and ready to go and they usually give you about 2 hours from when you get the call to your needing to be at the airport! So if you live far you then have to make arrangements to be close enough to get to work! I have never been called off of my homestand bys! Home standbys sometimes change to a trip the evening before too! Airport standby is when you go to the airport and wait for a 6 hour period and believe me they can and will send you anywhere depending on when you have your next day off! So if you have an airport stand by with 2 available days or 2 home standbys after you can get sent on a 3 day trip! This happened to me 2 weeks ago and I was sent to Abu Dhabi which was a complete shock as I was rostered to go to Norway off of a homestandby BUT they changed it as an airport standby is there for them to use you if someone calls in sick last minute or for any other reason! I was not prepared at all and learnt very well to really be ready for airport standbys! (AbuDhabi was great and I’m sure you’ll soon get to discover this and other places for yourself) with BA it is one job where everyone seems to be constantly learning as we go along! So you will never be alone in learning be you a new starter or someone that has been in the company for a while! I learn from new starters ALL the time or am pushed to remember things by helping out or sharing information! (Share what you know one of BA hall marks lol) Also I forgot to mention because BA is big on grooming you may have other things to keep yourself neat in general but the men tend to keep things minimal and at most It is usual a cologne, mints, comb/brush , hand sanitiser, lip balm, jumpers, that I see! If anything else comes up that I’ve forgot to mention I will surely let you know! We also get a holder along with the hand luggage so that’s a good amount of space and usually all that is needed for a 3 day trip! I hope I’ve been able to answer most of your questions! Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know and feel free to email me too! Yet again a massive congrats and look forward to hopefully flying and serving with you in the airXxx

Hi Emily! Have you been to New York before?! If you haven't been you are in for a treat! The last time I went I was a teenager but New York is a favourite destination for a lot of crew! It would have been an absolute pleasure to serve you but I operate usually from Heathrow! Rest assured crew are usually really lovely and wishing you a very enjoyable flight! Love the fact that your son doesn't know, that's one stellar surprise!!! Thank you so much for subscribing and liking and hope to be able to serve you in the skies for one of your trips! Also when there is an opportunity and you can grab a chance share with one of the crew members that it is your sons birthday, sometimes it adds to the experience to have crew members acknowledge a birthday and some crew IF they can get a minute would go out of their way to wish a warm birthday! ENJOY NEW YORK XOXOXO

Hey Cassandra love you're vlog keep going I have just a question did in BA you have to do some specific hairstyle or a make-up that the company chose before going on fly ?? I love travelling and I wish to be a cabin crew soon thanks in advance 😘😘
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Hey Lina! Thanks for stopping by! For hairstyles you can do what you want as long as it is within the BA standards of grooming, the same goes for makeup! For example there are a set number of colours you can wear which I believe are, red, pink and nude or natural and neat the pinks and reds can be of any shade just not neon! With hair if it is past your shoulders in length then you have to have it off your face and it can't be a high bun! You can do braids and we have the grooming standards to guide us too! Will perhaps do a get ready together video and will read out the exact grooming standards! Let me know if you would like any more information! And yes go for Cabin crew if you're heart is set on it!XOXO

DMS5511 A MASSIVE congratulations!!! Okay so usually SEP/first aid training is not during the first week! But the training schedule changes and may not run in the same order that mine did! Please let me also let you know that the trainers for the most part and EXTREMELY SUPPORTIVE and want you to pass! They are literally there for you to use and ask a whole lot of questions! Training is very intense mainly because there is a lot to take on in a short space of time! The great thing is that you have a training group that you are in and that’s a great way to not feel like you are in it by yourself! I am confident that you’ll pass and I mean that! If having to use the word difficult I would only say it is considered so because of the huge amount of information to take in in such a short space of time! However you are able to revise what you have studied at home each night! For the 5 weeks of training you will hardly almost not have a social life! There is a lot of help available honestly it’s fine! And even if nervous let it be in an exciting way if you can help it! Wishing you all the best and let me know how it goesXoxox

Maybe this question is too personal but I‘ve heard that Ba crew only gets paid around £1200 per month. Is that true? I would love to work for BA in the future but this fact really shocked me... especially moving to London is so expensive and the and wage would barely cover the rent 😳
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Jessica Hey Jess and thanks for stopping by! With the pay it changes month by month so there is the basic pay which you speak of (this is WITHOUT flying) so it all depends how much you fly within the month in which you are then paid and able to make good enough money depending on where you fly to! London is indeed expensive but there are so many opportunities to share a house with crew members and then there are so many people that live out of London that travel down to work! It also honestly depends on where you choose to live in London, some of the outer-skirts are definitely affordable ! I live in London too and able to live comfortably (obviously everyone has different lifestyles so it depends on responsibilities too etc) after you pass probation you are then able to progress and there is also a great opportunity to grow within the company! The next thing is that in regards to the amount of time you are working once you are off the plane the time is yours and you are still getting paid for it, with sometimes up to 3 days off depending on the flights you do! So you also have a lot more time off than a conventional job too! With long haul flights you can easily bring in a good enough amount! You can also bid for trips that will bring you in more money too! I really hope this helps and if you do go ahead with applying I am wishing you all the best with it and a whole lot of success too! Do let me know if I can help you with anything else!Xx

@cassandranina81583 жыл бұрын
This is such a late reply and so sorry about that! Thought to respond nevertheless You are still so young and I believe have so much time to figure it out. Don't be too hard on yourself at all and you know there may come a time where you may want to do a few years of travelling before embarking on a law career or may even be a travelling lawyer of some sort (it depends on the discipline of law you get in to) you may even change your mind and that's absolutely fine! I think it's always nice to have a go at different things if interest if you aren't sure and if aviation is your TRUE passion follow that, the only better career for anyone is one they love and feel happy in...from there you can excel at it and have other things come from it too! Thanks for a great video😊 I wanted to ask Does BA prefer to hire people who were born in the UK? Did you have colleagues who were not born in the UK? I read lots of reviews about job interview and some people said that they don’t really want to hire foreigners, idk if it is true but I am really scared of trying now😅

Do you think it would ruin my chances ? Do they employ and do training year round ? I could just leave my current job early but would loose my £19000 bonuses i am owed. Thanks Greg

Helloo Casandra I'm 13 years old and I'm from India it is my biggest wish to work as a cabin crew in British Airways but the problem is that I have got few cavities on my teeth it isn't too visible but I have heard that airline companies don't want their crew to have any dental issu and I have a small gap between my teeth so do you think that is will become a problem in future? Does British Airways provide transportation service for their crew (home to airport or hotel to airport)? Does British Airways provide accommodation for their cabin crew? Does British Airways have fee for Cabin Crew training? Are British Airways cabin crews allowed to get married? Please reply me with this questions cuz it has been months that I have started to find answers for this questions......

I haven't had to work on Christmas day as of yet (God has been like child I'll let you have those days off) how ever I have done Christmas eve and it all depends on how you get rostered that determines whether you will work on Christmas day or not! Hello! thank you for the video! I loved it. I´m very nervous becaus I´m having an assesment day for BA next week and I would like to ask you if you can give som questons which probably they will ask, or if they make you read a text or perform with someone ealse a role in a difficult scenario? thank you in advance!
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Hi and a big fat congratulations on you for getting this far! So for the assessment it starts off with you doing the basic, such as measuring your height, seeing if you can reach an over head locker as well as being able to a brace position, fasten and unfasten a seat belt and stretch to bend down to tug an red strap by the door of a plane! This is all VERY basic but basics BA covers to make sure you are able to do the most important essentials of carrying out safety procedures when operating a flight! From then you are then interviewed one on one with someone within the company PLEASE PLEASE rest assured they are so lovely when it comes to interviews and the one thing I love about BA is that for the most part everyone trainers and interviews are nice no one is every trying to make it difficult! With the first part of the assessment you are given some information about the company to read in the form of bullet points! (Mine was something along the lines of knowing that there is a place where only Gold carders can go before boarding a flight (Gold Carders are very frequent flyers and they have racked up air miles) knowing BAs policy on if a passenger missed a flight what BA does to help the situations, I think baggage allowance...) you are then left along in the room for about 2 minutes to take in the information and before being left alone made to read out what is in front of you (I think this is to ensure that you understand and perhaps ask any questions too) after being left alone to take in the information the interviewer come back in (I had a lovely lady) and she then came in and did a tile place with me my scenario was that she had come off a flight and due to no fault of her own missed her flight to Manchester! I then had to remember some of the information I had read before (as once the interviewer comes in she takes the papers with the information away from you) she then have me a paper with different flight times! So when I got my role play on I apologised sincerely for her missing her flight, reassured her we would get her on another flight - she then asked when the next flight was and I had to look on the sheet with all the flight times and let her know of the next flight time! She then asked if she could go into the Gold members waiting room and I had firmly and kindly with understanding of her frustration reject her going in! (This was now my using the information that I had read on the previous sheet) she then asked what she was meant to do, I then offered her a voucher which BA gives passengers for her to use in the mean time to grab something to eat or use in a way she would want! She then asked if she could take he bag from the hold in Which I actually didn’t know what to say ( so at first I explained to her I don’t think she could but I would double check) in it all I remained friendly and very understanding! Once the role play was done I went back and waited for everyone else that needed to have their one on one interview completed! After this there is then the group interview! This is where they throw a group scenario and more so than have CORRECT answers this is where they want to see your team work ethic and A CAN DO ATTITUDE! Our scenario was a delayed flight and we had to decided what we would do and what we would get rid of in regards to food, magazines, toiletries etc! We had a budget as well there were about 7/8 of us in my group and about 5 of the BA interviews watching us! It was not intimidating at all and they hardly spoke except for the one that would give us the scenario! What I remember and up until now I can’t say what got me chosen but I was positive and listened to everyone’s opinion and honestly tried to resolve things as a group ( in my group scenario I was the only one that got chosen and thought I had a brilliant bunch) I think what they did want to see was solution orientated feed back and also a way in being a team player! There was a time in the group scenario where I said “we got this guys let’s do this” and I think little things like they made the difference too! After the group scenario they then let you know if you have got through for the final interview! I had to women interview me absolutely lovely and what they more ask about is your experience! A time where you delivered customer service and thought you were amazing, times where you had a difficult situation and how you handled it! What you know about planes ( I knew nothing and said that I am a quick learner) They asked about how I would manage being called off standby and going through an intense training and of course I said I was ready to take it on and I acknowledged that it would be intense but I was ready to take it on and going to give it my best! With this part of the interview they wanted to know more about you and how you operated in your last job or within situations which I believe gave them an idea of how you would perform within BA
@cassandranina81586 жыл бұрын
Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know I may have missed some things but in a nutshell that’s it! What I’ll probably do it a video on the assessment interview process and really try my best to break it down some more! Wishing you ALL the best! Give them your best smile, go in there and go your thing! I believe they more want to also feel the confidence, friendliness and wanting to be there too! Let me know how it goes and wish you the biggest amount of success!Xxx

Manpreet Kaur thank you lovely! Yes we do have to wear make up! There are certain makeup standards like it can’t be extremely heavy however if you look good in it it’s fine! Nothing eccentric like blue lipstick (even though I don’t mind it lol) we cant wear such things to work! There are some ladies that wear he bare minimal! Which could literally be a light powder and blush! But overall it’s to have a neat look! Red lips or pink ( I have seen a lot of nudes or barely there looks/gloss on the lips) so no it would not need to be heavy at all! And yes will do a make up look in due time and make sure to also let you know when it’s up ❤️
