Thats exactly what i did with mine. I have only used it like you in winter. Probably saved my life when my old tent ripped and rain came in buckets. I was dry and warm ish till daylight came. I have now bot the Hilleberg soulo in sand. You will love it. So warm. Cheers

Great mod stu. I have had the same issue with mine too. Looks like I'll be getting some thick paracord and swapping things a little. Cheers. Andy.

I especially love this video.... some of the things you do...make it so much fun to watch.... but my favorite one is still... the haggis hunting in the woods many years back.

I have a British army bivvy bag too. The L shaped bends in the cord sleeves let you tighten the bivvy around you head and keep most of the tension there if you have to loosen it near the chest. I also used 3mm shock cord so I can stretchy my way in and out with less faffing about. Basically tie off the shock cord with a knot with enough stretch to let my fat guts in and use a linelock for the last bit. I'm using 3mm shock a lot more: it's plenty strong enough for replacing thicker bungees on tarps guys and much lighter. Got the 3mm shock from a marine sports store.

Love my British army bivvy bag and did this same mod with para cord, makes a huge difference, I’ll be modding another bag for the missus too. 👍🏻

I have one , love it but totally agree the draw cord is a nightmare, never get it tightened properly, gonna have a look at modification like that, it looks good, thanks for sharing 👍

Good mod Stuart!, hate being stuck in the house myself, rather be outside!!! The best from the USA 🇺🇸

I’ve never had a bivi bag Stuart but that Dutch one you’ve got with the hoop seems like a much better option if your just camping with no tent , it just kinda seems a better design instead of having your face exposed to the elements.

How did you thread the paracord haha?! I be removed the awful shoelace in mine but can’t seem to get the paracord through efficiently

The weather here in mainland of Europe is fine mate come on over we can go to Germany or Belgium for a camp. The black plastic locks you bought on evilbay for drawstring are called “linelocks” sometimes called barrel locks on occasion. Good job mate but if it’s raining a tarp and the bivy sack work best together to keep the rain out of your face and give you a place to put your shoes on in the morning or make coffee. Cheers to you and Ollie!

That always annoyed me too, but if just put up with it for year's. I think I'll have to follow your lead on this one day I'm stuck in the house

I must admit, I quite fancy give a bivvy a good (next summer) but could not stand it that closed up, be way too claustrophobic for me. Good modification mind, cheers Alan

You did attach the paracord to the draw lace as you pulled it out yea? Don't say you sat threading it through haha?

You have answered my question Little Bull. It's so obvious now you mention how to do it. Top man!

good video, i have the same bivi and would be very interested in a mod to make it like a hooped bivi without it leaking so i dont also have to use a poncho cover for my head.

What size cord did you use 7 or 9 strand as I'm having the issue with my bivvy bag
@leonperry123 Жыл бұрын
Yep, mines the same. Does the old drawstring just pull out?

good mod. Stuart. I've got one. noticed bootlace job urghh. ..tight. Worth doing thanks. looking for toggles.!!
@southernwanderer79125 жыл бұрын
That's a good alteration job, Stuart.
@PHARRAOH5 жыл бұрын
I dont know why they always put thee toggle in the center, it is right in your face when you sleep. I had one the toggle was right in the corner, where the chest ridge meets to hood ridge, it was way better. Either way, they are not for everybody. confining like a mo fo!

There good bivvies mate, I got the green one and it was all I used on a week long walking trip along the D Day beaches in Normandy years back, it was June though, a basher tarp is a good idea for our wetter months, keeps your kit out the rain 👌🏻🇬🇧

I've got one and have no problems. I've waxed the drawstring to make it easier to pull. I always have a tarp/poncho over my head end

Do you find you get condensation in these army bivvys in winter, I was thinking of getting one to protect my sleeping bag while in my tent, but no point if you get condensation in, cheers
