The regiment was founded in 1624 (from an earlier "fänika"), and took part in the Northern Seven Years War, the Livonian War, the Thirty Years War, the Second Northern War (known as the Swedish Deluge in Poland), the Scanian War and the Great Northern War. Battle honors: Varberg 1565, Narva 1581, Breitenfeld 1631, Lützen 1632, Warzawa 1656, Lund 1676, Landskrona 1677, Malatitze 1708. The regiment suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Poltava and ended up in russian captivity. It was later reastablished.

I think Bella, considering that he was in the Swedish version of SAS/SBS, knew exactly what kind of speed was optimal in the context of his old unit. Tier-one special missions units can do CQB REALLY fast (there is a video on KZbin where Delta Force practices hostage rescue and it is INSANELY fast, and another video where they actually do a hostage rescue in Iraq with the same speed (though the enemy had left the compound by then, but they weren't sure)). But in the context of the unit in the video, I guess him being this fast became arythmic with the rest of them, so he needed to slow down to have the drills actually make sense in a team context.
@Cydreeze

Individual skill doesnt matter if it cant be applied. If youre at speed 10 and even though speed 10 might be optimal, if your unit cant do that then you are causing more problems than youre solving

Even for conscripts, that kind of food is very common when you get back to base after a week or more in the field, ordered once the equipment is cleaned, inspected and restored for next use Swedish garrison towns/cities often have a disproportionate density of pizzerias, burger and kebab restaurants that frequently also offer food delivery service to the gates of the local military base due to that demand. When I did my conscript training in 2003-2004, after the first big post-ussr disarmament, my regiment graduated roughly 800 conscripts every 15months. Thus every thursday evening, say 30

American living in Sweden for the last 20 years here. I don't have what you was specifically called military experience in the us. But I did grow up between two Marine Corps bases and did a sort of boot camp with a Marine Corps for about 2 weeks when I was around 15 years old. I recently joined the Swedish home guard. In general I can say at least with the Home Guard is that the competence level of the recruits is not particularly high. Nor is the recruiting requirements. More or less all of these people will end up being specialists IE in non-combatant roles. My experience however with dedicated military personnel and previous draft soldiers and full-time employees was incredibly good. The non-hierarchical structure in the Swedish military and in general and Swedish Society is incredible in a military context. A friend of mine told me that this was considered the Prussian model. From my experience regarding the Marine Corps versus Swedish army the Swedish army is much more open to suggestions leading to a more Dynamic decision-making. Decisions can be made at a group level or a company level or even lower without having to refer back to higher levels. Take a look at kfor in Kosovo and how quickly, aggressively and decisively they reacted. This command structure makes for an incredibly agile force. In general competence as well as overall morale is extremely high and in general better than what I experienced by far in the Marine corps. Sadly the equipment that we are allotted as home defence is ridiculously inadequate compared to what is issued to equivalent soldiers in the United States military.

Being a civilian that lives in Sweden, we know our armed forces are getting more prepared by the day. I've spoken to lots of people regarding if a war would come to Sweden or not and most of the people I've spoken to and myself just think that either it does happen or it does not happen, nothing we can do about it. It's not scary as we have no idea what actually is going to happen.

There is a video on Försvarsmakten inblick channel about P4. "Våra krigsförband på P 4 - 2024 26,800 views 28 Dec. 2024 The military units of the Skaraborg Regiment Another year of training, exercises and operations is coming to an end and the result is an increased brigade capability that strengthens our defense. This is only a fraction of the regiment's activities during the year and would not have been possible without our civilian employees, who daily create the conditions for our military units to grow and operate. The legacy is binding! 19:25 People are individuals so its impossible to say that this applies to everyone but it is one of the Swedish traits if you can call it that, we are in general good with our personal and professional "social/personal distance" or whatever, I do not know any good words to describe it. I guess a somewhat good way to explain it is to use a tech support hotline as a example, people might call in and be upset and call you all kinds of things but you do not care because you know they are just upset they are missing the sports event due to some technical problem and they are just some random dude who have no idea who I am calling me things. I dont care just as I dont care if someone insults me online. Combine this with the trait that a lot of Swedish people try to not, again I have no good way to describe it exactly but "not rock the boat" is close enough and its usually very easy to get along with people in a professional setting. Things would have to be really bad before it starts to openly affect things. Or you know, some specific people being the exception to everything as usual. Take that extra "I can take this without it affecting me personally because I am just doing my job so there is no need for me to react badly to it" expand the limit, then add it to basically everything and you have the Swedish psyche right there. Swedish people, friendly and patient until not.

Breitenfeld, Lutzen and Malatitze are the most famous battles of the Skaraborg Regiment. At Malatitze, the Skaraborg Regiment charged into melee with several of Russias elite royal guard regiments to counter an early morning flanking maneuver by the Russians. The Skaraborg assault secured the flank and pushed the elite Russian regiments into marshes where the Swedes could finish off the enemy with ease.

Regarding the question about what war Sweden is preparing for. we are not preparing for a specific war. but we are rebuilding our defense force back up in preparation for a new cold war and to fulfill our NATO obligations. in the early 2000 we did defund our military. we never completely removed a capability, but for example, our engineering brigades (yes, multiple brigades) did become a couple of companies. same thing happened all over the military. we did go from 16 brigades down to 2 (now there are 3 armored brigades and one motorized brigade (plus regional defense forces (home guard))). We also recently reactivated our conscription. something that was made dormant in 2010 (in the end there where verry low recruitment numbers, but it was still there). that's also why the armed forces is producing a lot of these kind of movies. its to raise awareness. But in the end, if Russia wants to invade the Baltics, they would most likely invade the Swedish island of Gotland a couple of days before and move a lot of anti-air and land based anti-ship missiles in order to completely surround the Baltics with AA and anti ship missiles, hindering any NATO relief force.

The one thing i reacted to was his comment about how you MUST react to a casualty during combat. I've been in and out for the last +20 years as a squad leader and every time i go through tactics i always react to "how to react to casualties". E.g. either make sure you attack and control the area, or make a tactical retreat. Then take care of injured soldiers (if possible. It's not like in the movies "leave no man behind". Most people do not realize that you have to more or less "ignore" injured soldiers. For me, personally, i don't think about it, but for others (younger soldiers) it might seem weird to ignore injured soldiers. But you have to focus.

Auto translate is doing a good job, it has come a long way. About 90% accurate I would say. The 10% it can't do too well would be interpreting Swedish expressions and certain singular words that can mean multiple things. Imagine using Google translate to look up a word, and then only look at the first interpreted meaning - not the list of 5+ other uses for that same word. I especially liked the translation of "cheers" into "bowl" (as cheers in Swedish is technically the word for bowl, but it also means cheers in the way of raising a glass). The commander also said something that was translated as "curtain hanger" (funny), which I'm not sure actually what HE meant with what he said :) I interpreted what he said as a metafor for "drill complete, move out", but could be wrong.

Yes, you can feel that something may be about to happen, as Russia has violated Swedish airspace several times. And now that several digital cables have been damaged on the seabed by Russian and Chinese boats dragging anchors on the seabed. Cables between Finland and Estonia had been damaged, Sweden has been affected before. And more things that have started to happen since Finland and Sweden joined NATO. Then when it comes to the AK5 small arms that are in the film, they are being replaced, the new weapon is called AK24 and it is the hunter units that have first received these weapons. The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has, on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces, procured new combat helmets. The call is made against a framework agreement procured by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and it is the Canadian company Galvion that produces the helmets. The model is of the Galvion Batlskin Caiman type. The uniform will also be replaced, Ground Combat Uniform 24, MSU24 it will be called. The lunch they ate was either pizza or a pizza roll.

Realistically, a swedish invasion wouldn't really be possible. The terrain is perfect for defending the border. To much possibility for gorilla tactics. And they would have to invade Finland first which we would do everything in our power to stop. Even if RU collected their entire army (inlcluding those protecting their own borders) and marched into Sweden, it would be too little, even if our force is way smaller. As the minister of civil defense put it: "I say this with all the power of my office: There may become war in Sweden". Russia is certainly conducting hybrid attacks and provications. Sweden will certainly be involved in repelling such attacks. The Joint Nordic Air Force will certainly need to repell Russian "accidental" violation of Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Baltic or Norwegian airspace.

When I was i the army (like in the stone age😃) we were told to not bother at all about the wounded until we had seccured the next position. Then we could take care of wounded comrades without bullets flying around us.

As a completely civilian Swede, my take is that these videos are a way of showing off the military to the public. If I remember correctly we are planning to triple our armed forces in just a few years and that means you have to be visible and create interest to be able to recruit personnel. I guess it is also about being more open about what the military is actually doing, enough to create support from the public for all the increased spending as well as create a sense of comfort and security in a volatile time. I'm a millennial and as far I can remember there have only been talk of disarmament and downcuts in the military budget every year so this is completely new. But we are quite exposed here and you can see in the news every week that people have been arrested or noticed for suspicious behaviour around protected areas, even break-ins at water supply facilities have increased radically and now number in the hundreds every year. Russians and also chinese people are being deported regularly for suspicious behaviour. Drones are flying where they shouldn't, hacking attacks on different parts of our infrastructure. And that is only what is actually made public. It would be naive to call this situation peace or business as usual. I don't blame anyone for feeling a bit scared or overwhelmed. The support from Swedes for joining NATO was always very low but that changed pretty much overnight three years ago. We have to do what we can to live as normal but be more realistic of and adapt to how the world looks today. I watch a lot of these videos as well and they make me personally feel better when I have more knowledge of what the military actually does.

I live right by this place where they shoot, and can assure they do this every tuesday 😅 day and night, you hear it very well 🤣 Im not so worried about a war here. It may happen no one can tell. But im more worried for our neighbours finland since they already invaded them once, and im also more worried about my boyfriends homecountry lithuania, since they’ve been apart of sovjet.

One thing we’re terrible at in Sweden is translating subtitles… and this was no exception. A great video, but terrible translation. 😂

Most of the gear that they use, combat belts, mag pouches, IFAKs, combat shirts, boots and so on is bought and payed for by the individual soldier. Thats why their kit varies quite a bit because the army itself can only provide old clunky beat up equipment in most cases. I've personally spent more than I'd like to admit because the military has faild to supply its troops with decent kit thats not 30 years old...

For sure we are aware - we have been here for 300 years... The sad thing is that our politicians decided that there was no danger some 30 years ago... and unfortunately they were wrong! But the will to defend ourself is still alive! 😊💪

Yes, there's a general fear in Sweden now that wasn't present before the Russian invasion. Suddenly each household received a booklet from the government department for "Preparedness and defense" in the mailbox. In there is all the basic info that civilians need to know, and how to be prepared, in case of a potential crisis or war. I followed all the guide lines! I've got enough stuff to last me (and my cat) a week😁 I have a little "survival" stash in my pantry. Ads from that same department started popping up showing recipes for cooking with no heat😬 Everyone started checking where their closest shelter was, I'm lucky, there's one directly below my flat😄 Each household was also recently sent a crank radio. The worry has subsided a little bit at this point though, that's my general impression. I was more fearful at the start of the war and especially when Putin threatened nuclear attacks if Finland and Sweden joined Nato. I think one of the reasons I'm even watching these videos is to get an idea of what our defense looks like and it's level of competence. And I feel good about it, it's way better than I thought. Appreciate your content🤗

For me, there's really no doubt that "Mare Balticum", a dystopian yet not unrealistic Swedish book, is more realistic than you'd like to think. We all know about Putin's ambitions. We all know that to accomplish some of those, especially related to former Soviet states (or subjects, rather), he need to control Gotland. Anyone who controls Gotland also has the best opportunity to maintain full areal control of the Baltics, but also better marital opportunities given its location. Together with Öland, Åland, and Bornholm, well... you have it all. Give the Russians YEARS to "breed new warriors" then sure, they might be able to actually overtake all of these areas, even though they're now all within Nato territory (especially given Trump's view on Nato), but they won't stand a chance now, or for the coming years, if Sweden, and the other Nordic countries, maintain their dedication to keep our countries safe.

Except for some dullards that were in power after the collapse of USSR we have always been aware that the enemy comes from the other side of the Baltic and that we´ve better be prepared.

Peace time armies are really interesting. The problem is if Russia was to invade Sweden they don’t have the numbers.

We don't have a land border with Russia, so an invasion would have to be done by air or on the sea, so hopefully our underwater navy, air force and marines(with land based anti-ship systems, RBS 15 and RBS 17) would decimate any invasion force, making it futile. In case shit would really hit the fan, the border starts much further east, at the finnish-russian border, or in the baltic nations and thats probably where a large part of the army would be working. But lets hope nothing like that ever happens.

The supreme commander of the armed forces of sweden did state that we are in an active pre-war state. Aldo there is complete openness about us being actively subjected to hybrid war or " gråzon ". A state of neither peace nor war. We are reinforcing the north anf opening, manning and commanding a NATO forward ready battallion in central-north Finland to free up more finnish troops for the eastern border. Like the winter war, that is where they would have to come through, and it is where, like the 300 of sparta, our two small nations could break the soviets and would prefer to bleed and break russia. Russia has little real ability in the baltic, none really Beyond Iskander-M robots in Kaliningrad. So no naval invasion. Russia does not posses the aviation and overall power to conduct an aerial invasion. Very likely it would be through Finland and i do not see that going well. Sweden is however underprepared and in 10 years will be at a pre ukraine war level of capability. We have 0 stocks so can neither sustain existing capabilities nor handle losses. 3 years ago our best estimate was we could defend 1 (!) Major city for 2 weeks against an attack from russia. Now? 3?4? It is a huge increase only because we virtually disarmed everything and scrapped all stores and stocks.

As a Swedish civilian with the ear bent towards the global conflicts, and despite a pretty pacifist past, I think it's pretty clear global conflict is coming one way or another, and I'd rather see it break loose now and be over in 10-15 years when climate change really is gonna start hitting us. Rather than it erupts during an already harsh developing global crisis. I think a lot of people haven't understood the general hardships coming our way the coming few decades, but Sweden as a nation is doing what it can to sure up on its end. Both in event of a specific conflict or just global crisis in general.

@@combatreadyhqauto translation I guess. Perhaps 10% didn’t really make sense. Great video reaction. You could see that Bella wanted to go faster, also that he was torn between the command from the rear to assist the wounded and his instinct to keep focus on the threat.

As a swede I don't feel we are going to war or in a pre war state, I think It is political way to get more money for the armed forces, rattle the war bell a little so to speak, we all know Russia can't invade anything without losing huge amount of troops and equipment just look at Ukraine, I did my military service in the middle of the 90s the very start when Sweden were more or less dismantling Its huge armed force to only have a small army, so I'm glad Sweden are back on the track with building up.

Its a politicians and bankers war we prepare to fight. Its not a real war. But our young kids will be mutilated and die for real. We mock russia and other countries for their oligarchys. But Sweden is one of the worst oligarchys on the planet. 2-3 families call the shots. One of them practically own the whole defenseindustry…. Its so sad….. 1995-96 conscript Urban SF
