Empire is easily the best total war game. The 1700s are ideal for a game like this. Best uniforms, best wars, its great. I hope they release Empire 2 soon, with modern graphics and mechanics.

If there was a combination mod of Imperial Destroyer and Absolutum Dominium: Mods and Monuments, you might have near the perfect Empire game. I like the approach to Line infantry uniforms in ID. It seems the creator researched the most common mid-century colour combinations to have for the generic line infantry, whereas - as much as I love Ab Dom - that modder often picks uniquely uniformed units as the basis for his generic line infantry. ID's approach seems far more logical to me. But if you added Ab Dom's unique buildings to this mod, it would be even more awesome!

As you can see in Imperial Destroyer schirmish fire is checked in mod editor. Despite that there are numerous smaller mods prepared for players who want to customize the gameplay to their preferences. Reimplantation of fire by rank is one of them. ID is, in my opinion, completely separate in gameplay experience than any other bigger ETW overhaul. On a scale where vanilla is 0 Darthmod is still closer to vanilla with 1 point. Rise of the Republic and its older, equally great and closer to ETW timeline, brother Imperial Splendour is 2. But the Imperial Destroyer at 3 is, when it comes to big overhauls, the farthest from the vanilla. So far that is feels, and plays, differently than any other mod both on strategic and on battle map. Small minimalistic Empire Realism goes to 4 introducing mechanics unseen in any other ETW mod, except in its optional submod variant for the Imperial Splendour where it, unfortunately, goes to the extreme.
