I'm really happy to have found your channel, I've noticed that you notice the little things that most people wouldn't whether it's jewellery, clothing, instruments, sounds or equipment and most importantly you get the poetry. You also noticed that Coke Studios gives anyone that has the talent and courage to get up on stage like this a platform. They aren't perfect and no one is immune to politics and they have made mistakes picking the wrong people on occasions when there was someone more suitable for a particular arrangement. The fact that it's taken them 14 seasons to bring 2 of the biggest female living legends together is criminal to say the least. Boy was it worth the wait!

Jhoom word means swing/sway/wave also and (jhūm-nā), s.m. Swaying, waving, undulating; abundance of foliage, in this song Tu Jhoom means "just sway in ecstasy.... (lose yourself)"

14:10 Abida Parveen is not just a singer or any musical title she may hold, she is a modern day Sufi and her music is supposed to be a way to express that. Although, large performances and a more commercial approach recently have led people to believe that she is just another commercial singer, but in many ways I personally draw parallels to her personality with Rumi who brought his whirling dervishes to the forefront to not just be a personal prayer but something for all beings to appreciate and become a part of. Abida has performed in languages other than the languages used in South Asia too and in Churches and other places of worship, to bring all spiritual beings together.

The word "Jhoom" is actually a Hindi word with Sanskrit origin. 'Jhoom' is not an Urdu word. Here, This song is in Punjabi (Subtitles in urdu), thats why they use the word. The word is used in India way more often than in Pakistan. Here, "Tu Jhoom" mean "you should dance in blissfulness" or "just be blissful, and dance". This song is of so much value, because this song reflect Indian Culture way better than most modern Indian song. Punjabi is still the most spoken launguage in Pakistan and not Urdu. Being an Indian. This is single-handedly the best coke-studio song, with a perfect representation of Both Music and spritual culture of the Subcontinent.

Glad to see you enjoying this. On on the male end, we have the pillar of Sufi/Qawalli music in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (NFAK), but on the female end, Abida Parveen comes very close and is definitely an amazing talent who truly is a leader in her own right, perhaps even better than NFAK. On the other hand, she's also incredibly shy, and very reserved as a personality so it's very hard to find her doing interviews, or movies etc even though she's been offered plenty of opportunities. I highly recommend you listen to Chaap Tillak by Coke Studios which features her and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and man, it is truly a remarkable listen.

Me and my mom really enjoy your reaction videos. This song is more towards sufism.
