This gun is from the history books! I go over how to adjust the front iron sites using a simple tool. I zeroed this beauty in at 100 yards.

You don’t need to remove the magazine to load the rifle. Also I use stripper clips to load the rifle or just through the top like a regular bolt gun.

some number 4 have the adjustment scew on the front sight some dont, the elevation is adjusted by changing the front sight they have numbers on them for the right elelvation, the quick way to sight in is flip the sight up use the 200 miter sight and fire at 25 yards at a 2 by 2 square

Enfield sights are graduated in yards and NOT metres.

@@jamesrae5351 Thanks for the comment, yes I should have said meters, but the reality is the spec is a very long distance unlikely to match standard US shooting scenarios.

I have an Australian no. 1 mk 3 that shoots to the right. I looked up the tool for that and it cost $150 (shipping included). I only shoot targets with it once a year if I can get PPU ammo, so I just use Kentucky windage. The elevation is perfect @ 50 - 100 yds.

I bought a mk1 number 4 and I've been having difficulty hitting much. Maybe this adjustment needs to be done

Probably, and the other thing is that these battles rifles were 'zeroed' in at large distances 200 m plus, so in the most shooting situations in contemporary times, we would be shooting much closer.

@@themedhunter the example i have was "sporterized", so someone was previously using it for deer hunting. aside from those modifications the gun operates as it should. i paid $250. it surprises me that someone wouldnt have done that procedure if they were using it to hunt deer.

@@UPL-xl1yz someone previously "sporterized" this rifle, i noticed the front sight doesn't have the reverse flat blade screw that locks the sight in. this screw should be on the front of the sight. the gun does fire well. the furniture front lower piece has been cut back and the upper piece is missing. the barrel is unmolested and still has good rifling. it still has the lug for the bayonet. i would like to eventually turn this gun back to original mil-spec as i do love history, these guns were carried at Normandy and i do respect that, ALLOT. i think allot of these guns were modified decades ago before the military history significance set in. right now i want it to accurate and operate 100%, then i might work on. i paid $250 for the gun, i hope i didnt do too bad. it's not in rough shape but its not historically correct as i would like.

@@UPL-xl1yz the gun has been "sporterized" at some point in it's life. i didnt realize it until i read what you wrote but i think someone replaced some of the sight components. this gun fires well but the accuracy is inconsistent. what do i need to re-install the proper sight components and where should i purchase them? i would like undo the "sporterizing" nonsense and eventually make this thing look proper, but for the time being it want it to be accurate like it should be.
