the NBC envelope thing was that conan got offered the tonight show on NBC to replace jay leno. i think he started doing shows, then after some time, NBC decided to have both leno and conan, but bump conan's time slot to after 12. he wasn't happy about that and ended up leaving, and leno took the old show back. he was prohibited from doing talk show things for a while, so did a live tour instead, then re-started his talk show on TBS. i think he did that for 10 years before he retired it, and now he's doing podcast and travel show things.

Believe it or not, Jordan Schlansky was actually spot-on about all of the gut flora and reverse osmosis water stuff. It's tedious and has a lot more steps than it probably should be but we all have to respect his grind

In Estonia, Sauerkraut is one of the foods we like to eat a lot during Christmas for some reason. Another thing, funnily enough, is blood sausage. Our culture has so many of these random things inherited from other cultures, I suppose it's because our country has seen a lot of occupation by other nations.

Sauerkraut is awesome--put is on a hot dog with onions, chili (beef or other), then mustard. To die for. Also, sauerkraut is a traditional New Year's Day meal here--with port loin cooked in it slowly and also kielbassa in there, too with other spices. Really cooks right in a crock pot--slow cooking for hours. Proper sauerkraut is just the shredded cabbage, spices and salt allowed to properly ferment. I want some now.

I think the right way of looking at it is that he is exaggerating certain aspects of his personality when he's on camera. There is no way it's all just an act, unless he is just a comedy genius. The man reminds me of Karl Pilkington in that some people are just so quirky that they are hilarious without even trying to be.

If you're curious as to why Conan thinks NBC is garbage... KZbin is FILLED with videos about the Conan / Jay Leno Tonight Show wars. Its fascinating .. and it's why Conan moved to TBS. Theres a also a full documentary called Conan OBrien Cant Stop which is all about the time period after he was booted out of NBC and went on the road doing live shows
