You should add “NASCAR and the Art of Revenge” by EmpLemon to your watch list because moves that are legal aren’t always smart and moves that are illegal are sometimes necessary to successfully complete a season or further a career. On that note, NASCAR builds their cars (and trucks) to survive and continue racing through contact that would end an open-wheel team’s day. When you’re racing with bumpers, someone is going to use it to move a slower driver. When you’re making those left turns two, three, and four wide at oval tracks, someone is going to end up going further up or down the track into the side of a competitor that they didn’t intend to hit.

One of the cool things about the "Free Pass" or Lucky Dog, the highest placed lapped car on a restart gets its lap back, is that its a race within a race. All of the lapped cars are racing to be the Lucky Dog and get the Free Pass. It was an excellent addition

NASCAR is all about three things: Strategy, bumping cars, and some good ol' side by side action. They usually go around in circles (ovals, d-shaped ovals, hexa-d shaped ovals, + select road courses as we call em) because NASCAR likes to have side by side, beating and banging action, therefore left hand turns so most crashes dont have driver side door impacts.

The 2023 NASCAR season will start on February 5th with the Clash at the LA memorial coliseum but the first point race is the Daytona 500 on February 19th. which is the super bowl of NASCAR.

The video showed the old race on the sandy beach at Daytona (it used to be half pavement/ half sand) They don't do that anymore but they have brought back a dirt track. First year they tried it there was some much dust you could hardly see the cars. The teams used to bring in so-called "road course ringers" (open wheel drivers) to drive their cars on the road races but now the emphasis is more on one driver doing every kind of racetrack.

Nascar has road courses and superspeed ways were we go 200 mph short tracks and speed ways along with rovals witch is a oval road course mix like the Charlotte roval.

I'm new to your channel so I don't know if you've ever done a video on NHRA drag racing but if you haven't you should check it out. Also on that note, did you know that The FIA runs its own pro drag racing championship over there in Europe? It's called The FIA European Drag Racing Championship. They have a race in England at Santa Pod Raceway which is northwest of London and west of Cambridge. The FIA European Drag Racing Championship is Europe's equivalent to the NHRA in the US. The NHRA 1/4 mile ET record for top fuel dragester is held by Brittany Force she ran an ET of 3.659 sec at 338.17 MPH (544.23 km/h) and the 1/4 mile ET record for top fuel dragester in The FIA European Drag Racing Championship is held by Ida Zetterstrom she ran an ET of 3.773 sec at 321 MPH (516.6 km/h) so both drag racing championships are super close to each other in ETs and speeds.

Road course's have become very popular in nascar. So that's why there's 7 road course races on the nascar cup series schedule. And the gen 7 car is more suited to road courses.

Nascar has multiple divisions with different cars the 3 main ones are the nascar truck series which by the name uses trucks, the nascar xfinity series which uses dumb down versions of the gen6 cup car that you were seeing in the video, and the nascar cup series which is the top level of nascar and which most of drivers try to get to, also the cars you are seeing are the older gen 6 cars from 2013 to 2021 now nascar is using the gen 7 car which has a 600hp v8 engine from the gen6 car with some modifications, a 5 speed dogbox transaxle which is basically a transmission and rear differential combined. theres also some international series like the whelen euro series which races all over Europe, and there's some new tracks in 2023 like the chicago street race debuting later in the year, bristol dirt which is the cups series dirt race that debuted in 2021, and the LA Clash at the la coliseum which is a stadium race which open the season with a none points giving exhibition race. and yes drivers and even pit crew members do throw punches after the race also, the crash rarely cruse injury so most highspeed impacts will mostly cause a headache, getting the wind knocked out of you or a pain in your body for a short period of time.

Note on early in the video, will delete if it gets covered. Nascar names it’s races by miles rather than laps. Example being the Daytona 500 is 200 laps (in regulation) and the track is 2.5 miles.

The first point in the video is technically outdated. They now have a 5 speed sequential gearbox and a “transaxle” (transmission and axle combined) powering the rear wheel drive

8 Things You Probably Don't Know About NASCAR is a really interesting video. A reaction to that would be cool. NASCAR is the only sport I follow. Sometimes it's like a high speed bar fight and sometimes it's like a high speed chess match. The so called "cookie cutter" tracks aren't really. They may look similar, but they all driver differently.

The speeds of NASCAR Cup cars are faster than in F1 on large tracks. At Daytona and Talladega (you were too busy talking about Rickey Bobby to hear it) the drivers hold the pedal to the floor without letting up for the entire race, except for refueling. The speeds for a single car are around 190-195mph (record was 212mph). If two cars get in tandem with the rear car pushing, the speeds are 195-200mph. If 20 cars are in tandem all touching and pushing, speeds are 205+mph. The engines only provide about half the horsepower than at other tracks because they are required to use very small intake holes in the carburetors. If they didn't de-rate the engines the speeds would be around 230+mph, the same as Indy cars. F1 fans say that F1 drivers are better because they turn both left and right. I've seen quite a few F1 starts and have watched them enter the first right hand turn of the race. Believe me, F1 drivers have an extremely difficult time turning right without crashing.

Also oval racing is much more difficult than what people realize there have been many legends from other Motorsports like Juan Pablo Montoya who kinda sucked in nascar also if you are a fan of rally racing Travis Pastrana will be attempting this years Daytona 500 in the 67, he has raced in nascar before but he wasn’t very good

@@ExploringTheSmoke yah Kimi raced at Watkins glen last year he was actually doing pretty good until he got taken out in a crash that wasn’t his fault, also Daniel Kvyat did a couple races last year and he is looking to run more this year there’s also been some rumblings that Daniel Ricciardo wants to get into nascar though he hasn’t made any official plans as of yet

kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbJkomLoKqqptU also here’s a video if you want to react to it’s how the new nascar next gen cars work the car debuted in 2022 it looks suck it definitely had problems crappy parts that would break so often, there where times last year where the cars would randomly combust, most notably nascar designed this car to be stiffer when it gets crashed which was a big no multiple drivers got concussions last yeats for fairly minor crashes and one of them being Kurt Busch who is one of the greatest nascar drivers of the modern era he got concussed at pocono and he sat out the rest of the year and unfortunately announced his retirement at the end of the season he was apparently gonna retire after this year but that concussion forced him out early
