Odell Beckham is a Wide receiver - their sole job is to run into space or create some separation and catch the ball. They're the fastest and usually highest jumpers on the team with the best hands. (If you don't have hands, but have good speed they'll put you on defense).
@mertsalih Жыл бұрын
I have seen him in a couple of videos I have watched and always seems to be doing some really good stuff on the field. I noticed him originally because his surname is the same as David Beckham so he stood out straight away. But now I just notice him because he seems like an excellent player too.
@TheStapleGunKid Жыл бұрын
Well technically catching the ball isn't the wide receiver's sole job. They still have to block and sometimes they run the ball on a reverse or end around. But yeah that is their primary job for sure.

You should look at their feet more often!! Sometimes the “Toe-Taps” to stay in bounds are just as good as the catches! In the NFL they have to have 2 feet in bounds when they catch the ball, and in college they just need 1 foot
@philszudera7998 Жыл бұрын
The most wild thing to me isn't just the catches. Remember, for it to count you need to have at least one foot (in college) in bounds or 2 in the NFL for it to count. So not only do you have to have the athleticism to catch the damn thing, you need to be aware of where you feet are in relation to the sideline.
@drew5965 Жыл бұрын
Want to check out a cool nfl video check out best toe taps. In the nfl you need 2 feet in bounds w possession of the ball for it to be a catch, or one elbow. Watching them work the sidelines is a thing of art

Thats what I was going to say, keeping their feet in bounds while making those catches makes them 10x more impressive
@sirwadsontoast5928 Жыл бұрын
Yup toe taps are more impressive to me than the catches itself.
@drew5965 Жыл бұрын
Should clarity, you need 2 feet in bounds w possession for it to be a catch. One knee or one elbow is equal to 2 feet- would also be a catch. In the college ranks you only need one foot in bounds. It’s a great sport, once you learn what you are watching it will click and you will see it
@peytonfansher8144 Жыл бұрын
At 5:14 number 11 on the cardinals that makes the catch, played one of the longest careers a wide receiver can have and when he retired he had more tackles than dropped passes, he can also only get tackles when his quarterback throws it to the other team! Larry Fitzgerald is a beast!
@goldeneradler4132 Жыл бұрын
You should really watch a highlight of Troy Polamalu, his finger tip interception and some of this jumping the gaps by perfectly timing the snap, and tackles are some of the most athletic plays in NFL history. Easily one of the best safeties to have ever played the game and his highlights are insane.
@xliquidflames Жыл бұрын
A lot of these are high school and Canadian football. You can tell Canadian football, if you don't know the teams, because the goal posts are in the front of the end zone instead of the back. High school football can be harder to tell from college because some of them spend as much on football as small colleges. High school fields usually have a running track around them, though. That's usually the giveaway if you don't know the teams.
@Sarah-sf8zi Жыл бұрын
You might like watching a compilation of best "toe tap" catches. Sideline catches where the receivers toes are the only thing in bounds
@Cowboyfan6496 Жыл бұрын
You should also look at how some of these players are working to get in bounds on these plays. Not only are they making one handed catches, they're making sure they tap their feet inside.
@chrisswofford8638 Жыл бұрын
Not sure if anyone said already but in American amateur football (high school/college), a receiver only needs to touch one foot inbounds for a catch to count. In the NFL, two feet-- OR any other body part-- are required. Otherwise, it's ruled incomplete.

It's very recent, but my favorite catch is from Justin Jefferson a couple of weeks ago. Vikings were losing to the Bills with 2 minutes remaining in the game. 4th down and 18, the quarterback hucks it up and Jefferson goes up and one handed rips the ball away from a defender that had both hands on it. The way he contorted to make the catch breaks 3 or 4 laws of physics. Vikings would've lost if he didn't make that catch. Just amazing. Yes, I'm a Vikings fan and biased, but this young man is a transcendent talent.

As you've been making your way through American aka gridiron football it's time you start getting familiar with all the most exciting players to watch. I can't recommend doing a Patrick Mahomes reaction enough. Over the last few years he's been possibly the most exciting people to watch in football that we've ever seen before, he's absolutely unbelievable. Now if you're unaware who he is, he's a mega big time superstar quarterback known for doing absurd jaw dropping things, and he's been reacted to a lot but still he's absolutely essential that you're kind of doing yourself a disservice not to check him out. He played one game his rookie year in 2017, became the starter in 2018 and threw for 50 touchdowns and over 5000 yards, something only done one other time in NFL history he did his first year as a starter, won the MVP and the next year won the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP. Start there, trust me. I'd suggest doing a reaction to "Patrick Mahomes - Master Chief (An Original MVP Documentary)" that's a good place to start, and remember that what he's doing there is not only his first year in the NFL as a starting QB but he broke insane records and did something that so far the only other person to accomplish one time is a 5x NFL MVP and hall of fame QB, dude is a mutant.

For one of the most villainous and violent players to play, check out former Raiders player Jack "The Assassin" Tatum. Lastly, for modern day players, Charles Woodson who is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and could be considered a top 3 defensive back of all time, and finally current Raiders player Maxx "The Condor" Crosby whose arm span, ability do dip under and around offensive lineman makes him a darkhorse defensive player of the year this current season, doesn't have the accolades of players like JJ Watt, Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, etc., but the potential to be a superstar is there. I know this has nothing to do with this video, but I know you liked watching the big hits. Stick with me. The pads that the players wear are not meant to stop pain, they are meant to stop bones from breaking, and people dying. However, the pads make everything more exciting. I know you kept talking about rugby, and how most people think it’s a more physical sport. Rugby kind of is more physical solely because the players don’t wear any protective gear, and so their hits are mainly with their shoulders, and they with areas that won’t hurt themselves. This is why American Football is more exciting though, because the players throw everything they know about making “calculated” tackles (tackles that won’t hurt them) out the window. Because they have pads (and I’m sure many players can attest for me) the players feel basically invincible. This is why they seem to have much bigger hits, because the players do not care at all about making sure that they don’t hurt themselves😂.
@kovac2527 Жыл бұрын
Also, the pads in my opinion are what make the sport so exciting. Players have that feeling of invincibility because of the pads, and they feel much bigger, and therefore harder to injure, than they would without pads. This is why many players go for crazy catches, because they know that they can jump and twist their body in any way they need in order to catch a ball, because they won’t get hurt.

so many high school catches, hardly any pro catches, no tyree helmet catch, not even Odell Beckhams best catch of his career. idk who put that together but it certainly wasnt best catches in football history

You’ve seen biggest hits and best catches you should watch the highlights of Patrick Mahomes. He’s the best Quarterback in the nfl which is the guy that throws the ball, and he makes some really crazy plays.

First off I am not taking anything away from these receivers at all!!! They are great athletes!!! However as someone who plaid wide receiver those gloves help you out a lot!

Facts. What I'm more impressed with than these one hand catches are sideline catches. Especially in the NFL where the receivers has to toe tap to get the completion.

bet theres some compilations of best hail mary's... There was one ill always remember vividly, cardinals vs bills in 2020 i belive.. they got a crazy hail mary with 3 defense guys all jumping trying to block and cardinals got it and won the game. couldnt belive it watching it live but im sure theres a ton of great hail marys. they're sorta like best catches but desperate miracles version..(edit) actually its the first one on this kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoGrq2Z4bKhghrs
You are soaking up American culture and reacting to it. As an American, I'd love to see at least one video of you reacting to your favorite sport in Scotland. I'm guessing it's soccer but I also know about the highland games. Or maybe it's something else. If it is soccer, can you shed some light on why people love it so much? I tried watching a World Cup game... Eh, sorry, World Cup _match..._ And it put me to sleep. Is there something I'm missing?
