I highly recommend watching the original as well, on your own or on your channel if you want. It's an incredibly technical piece that, as a guitarist, makes me realize each time how insignificant I am. I really love their stuff so glad you enjoyed the unplugged version

LOL Yeah, that's Tim!! He's a genius!! Check out the full production video of Playing God as well!! The other members of Polyphia are also geniuses!!! Oh, and that's his signature guitar he's playing. And check out his collab with Marcin (IMO the world's BEST acoustic percussive guitarist) called "Classical Dragon".

Polyphia is one of the most well known and loved instrumental band (although recently they have done a lot of vocal stuff with other artists) and I highly recommend checking their stuff out it's super awesome.

Gotta love how what you loved is one of the things Tim gets flak for. Too many people complain about how 'soulless' his playing is and that Polyphia as a whole takes emotion away from the musical equation. I get where they come from but IMHO it boils down to extrovert bias

Yeah, I don't like those objections I see about a lack of passion, or musicality. I think the band was/is technically brilliant, but contextually a little naive, especially early on. They were very young though, so that makes sense.

One of the best modern guitarists. You're entering the rabbit hole of stellar talent. When you're done with Polyphia, I suggest to check others: Marcin Patrzalek, Manuel Gardner Fernandes, Ichika Nito. You'll be mindblown.

He took lessons for his technique from another modern guitar ace Tosin Abasi, who is given the credit developing the combined thumb slapping / fingerpicking guitar playing. Tim Henson uses it a lot on electric guitar together with left hand hammer ons. Please check out Henson's version on Idol theme on electric guitar. :) Polyphia's take on Japan influenced popsongs would be "ABC" with Sophia Black.

Polyphia never left my playlist since I knew them ! You should listen to the original version ! If you want to hear another one from Polyphia, I think you should linsten to Ego Death, with Steve Vaï ! And if you like the Prog Metal genre, a band is continuously listen to since almost 15 years now is Animals as Leaders ! I recommand "On Impulse" or "Behaving Badly" from them !

Tim Hensen's "Classical Dragon" collaboration with Marcin was my first introduction to Tim Hensen. If you have never done any reactions to Marcin, let me tell you that you will equally be blown away by his material. Those two are amongst the best on the planet. You should check out Jason Richardson and Luke Holland on their song Upside Down. Tim Henson is featured on it. Also, in case you didn’t know, Luke Holland is the drummer for Falling In Reverse. I’d also recommend Falling in Reverse “Ronald”. Luke and Jason were involved with the song writing on that track and is absolutely insane. Cheers!!!!

Tim is amazing as are the rest of the band. Re: His relaxed style... I think that there are a couple of things at play. I've seen guitarists talk about Tim and what they say is, that kind of speed and accuracy requires relaxed muscles in the hand and wrist. Sitting there in his home studio and recording this is just natural for him. The official video for this song was my first introduction to them and my jaw hit the floor. I spent that weekend doing a deep dive and listening to everything I could find. No matter how far you go back, its all good. But sticking to the latest album, I recommend Ego Death w/ Steve Vai, Bloodbath w/ Chino Moreno, and just blow your mind, ABC w/ Sophia Black. My personal favorites are Reverie and The Audacity. If you want to really see how good the entire band is, Check out the Neurotica playthrough. My quick older recommendations are OD, Goose, Yas, and 40oz. Enjoy the ride.

As everyone else is saying, you should definitely watch the original, all of Polyphia’s members are incredible musicians. You should also check out Paolo Gans’s fingerstyle acoustic cover of Playing God, which won him Tim’s signature guitar in a competition and was called better than the original by the band in their reaction to it!

The band is from just down the street a few miles from me here. I've read a few interviews Tim has given. He played violin for something like 12 years, from the ages of 3 to 15. He cites some mean/abusive teachers for why he didn't really enjoy it, but there are things about his guitar playing that remind me very much of violin students who started at a very early age. Primarily that extreme focus, and lack of tension. I think that early training is at least partially responsible for what he's able to do on the guitar now.

i can highly recommend you check out Dimash's "Omir" which is a song he wrote for his fans and released on his birthday!! You can either check out the original mv, which takes you through the different stages in dimash's life OR you check out the live version he performed with his younger brother mansur, who is just 17!!

Polyphia isn't my usual style in music but the guitar work (and musicianship in general) is just too damn good. Other great songs from Polyhia you should check you are: G.O.A.T. ABC CHIMERA THE WORST bunch more but those are my favourites.
