That was an intense championship battle: Kevin crashed in practice (after having set a pole lap that was a second faster than anyone else) and fractured his wrist which harmed him for the rest of the season because his hand got numb after some time (he later on admitted the injury didn't come from the race incident). At the same time, Wayne had highsided in practice and banged his head so bad that he had no depth perception and couldn't pass anyone on the race track. None of them said a word 'cause they didn't want to give the other rider a psychological advantage (not even Wayne's team was aware of the situation). Both were far from being ready to race, but both went for it. Simply because they couldn't live with giving it away to the other one. Amazing competitors! :)

Geez, I could buy a pretty nice dinner if I could have a dollar for every time they said "rostrum." I can't say I've ever heard the word before today, I've only heard "podium", or maybe I just never paid attention. All that aside, it's cool to hear all the familiar racer's names from when I first got interested in motorcycling, which would be '90 (had posters of all the super bikes, multiple moto mag subscriptions with all the stats memorized, and I'd flip out like a Beatles or Elvis fan when any of the big 4 were spotted on the road), got my first motorcycle in '93. I still ride year-round (no car by choice) with only two minor hospitalizations. Like the old saying goes: "There are bold riders and there are old riders, but there aren't old bold riders." Be safe out there kids. You wanna ride like these guys (or feel like it), buy a track day and leave the racing there, not out on the street.
