Lived in the Lake District from '86 - '90 and can still remember these nutters in Grizedale forest at 140mph+, when 50 would've seemed insane in a road car. Watched a Gp B Skoda totally own a Sierra Cosworth between stages up Dunmail Raise - great days indeed :))) And if these weren't bonkers enough, Gp S was waiting in the wings, and God only knows how insane that would've been. RIP Henri, Colin and all the others that used to make this the best entertainment that you could ever wish for

I was 14 when Group B got canned. I was heartbroken. There's still been nothing with the same drama, and sounds of the Group B cars. The 5 pot Quattros and the V6 6R4s just sounded SO good. Best of the bunch. Group S was getting set up to be even more mental, but was stillborn. Vauxhall/Opel were developing a 4WD Mk2 Astra for Group S, but ended up selling the prototype to John Welsh to go Rallycrossing. Been lucky enough to get sat in a S1 Quattro, a 6R4, a 205 T16 and an RS200, but only when on static display, but have seen & heard the Quattros and 6R4s in action.

This is one of my favourite videos on all of KZbin. I didn't have BBC to watch the RAC, but arranged excuses for Mam or Dad to visit neighbours and relatives when the RAC was on. The intro music for the rally reports. Fantastic

Yeah. Brings back good memories when rallying was at its best and followed the RAC rally round Britain. Used to get in and watch rally report and that music evokes good memories.

Radio 2 have this on their playlist - been driving me nuts trying to remember what it was from. They're not v. good at announcing artist/title & everyone at work is too young to remember it! Eh? Lombard RAC Rally? What? Group B? What's Group B? they said when I finally remembered. The Golden Age of rallying, if you ask me. I was at this one. Took me right back to Sutton Park, 7 years old. Oh, how much did I want one of the road-going 205 T16s back then. Still do, if I'm honest. Fantastic.
