I was there & it was such a spectacle that I will never ever forget it. On his day (& he had many) N.H was as talented a racing rider as anyone. Oh & super super nice guy also. Bumped into him & his then girlfriend while walking on Douglas prom at the TT one year. Spent loads of time chatting. A genuinely nice guy.

Walker should have been Champion that year. He was absolutely distrought after his engine blew up at the last round at Donnington. I always thought he made a mistake going to GP's on the uncompetative Shell Honda. He should have stayed with Suzuki and gone to WSB in the factory team alongside Frankie Chili when he had the chance. Its a shame but I think that crap season on the Shell Honda coupled with the massive dissapointment of losing the BSB title in such a cruel way destroyed his confidence/desire & he never really came back the same rider after that.

Great performance from Hodgson! Given how bikes are ridden today, it looks (to me at least) so strange to see them ride now: it looks like they're sat upright on the bike going around the corners. Their bum is almost completely on the seat! The commentator says "look at that lean angle!" at one point -- to be fair, Marc Marquez was only ~7yrs old when this race happened, so I doubt that many people knew about him or that he could ride quite like he can now! =P
