Cheers mate, I’m based in South Wales and most of my videos are shot on the coast in Newport Wetlands or just into the Brecon Beacons which is 40 minutes away. There you will find Wood Warbler, Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, Yellow Hammer, Whinchat, Ringed and Little Ringed Plovers, etc. In Goldcliff it’s going to be similar to the east coast reserves with Avocet, Redshank, Dunlin, Knot, Greenshank, Curlew, Oystercatchers, Black-Tailed and Barred Godwits, etc and the odd vagrants - in the last year Red Necked and Grey Phalaropes, Baird’s and Semi-Palmated Sandpipers, a Pallid Swift, Arctic Terns and a Glossy Ibis which was here from January to October (seen recently just down the road, so it will probably be back in the Spring). Up the road in the Forest of Dean there are Wild Boar, Fallow Deer, Hawfinch, Goshawk, of course it’s never guaranteed that you will see them, I’d be more than happy to show you around.
@AShotOfWildlife
@AShotOfWildlife 4 жыл бұрын
@@johnluk All of that sounds brilliant! I will let you know when I am planning to come across that way and hopefully you will be free. Yes, that is the "problem" with wildluife but then if you were guaranteed to see what you were looking for every time, I think wildlife watching would lose its appeal to me. Anyway, I appreciate that offer and will keep you posted :)

Top class presentation ASoW! We have some marsh harriers around lough Neagh. I've never seen one. We have no bearded tits unfortunately. We are now getting a few great white egrets arriving. The place is already coming down with little egrets! lol Love your commentary. It adds so much to the video. These wee muntjac deer are here breeding away almost totally unnoticed. There are no accurate records of just how many there are! They could become a traffic danger and they are guilty of eating bark and damaging trees. Excellent zoom to catch those red deer!! We seem to have good numbers of curlew here still. I see/hear them all the time. We have a few managed red deer herds. Love those fairy mushrooms. I've never come across them in real life. Wow! That stag could do some damage! Best wishes from Belfast!

Hello Tom! I hope you are well and notice you have changed your channel name? Ive been away on holiday so forgive me if it has been that way for a while. I remember the first time I saw a little egret, I was so excited and didn't even know what it was, now they are "two a penny". There are lots of Muntjac in this area, I see them at least once a week and often they are road kills. When I worked at the wildlife rescue we would be called out to RTA muntjacs almost every day. They are surprisingly fast and extremely strong. One kicked me in the stomach as I was catching it, I still have the scar! A friend of mine has been helping with some studies on Curlews and the reason the population hasnt dropped dramatically yet is because they are a very long lived bird. The population is shifting though and in 10-15 years it will drop off a cliff edge as they arent getting any young through to fledging. Its been a great year for Fungi! That was the first time I have seen that type in real life and this last week I saw my first Birds nest Fungi. They will be featured in my upcoming video which will probably be finished by next weekend. Nice to hear from you, I hope you are well.
@TomMcClean

Hi ASoW, Yes I have added to my channel name. I always did want to reflect the more positive side of Belfast, Northern Ireland and lfe liived here. We have had so much understandably negative stuff coming form the is wee place over the decades. I wanted to show that there is another side to the coin. Including Belfast in the title will show folk where I am and the positive should hopefully cheer them up. There is so much dark stuff out there in the world/media. It wears you down. Both buzzards and egrets are indeed 'two a penny', now! I see what you mean when you explain about the curlew. I love fungi. I haven't a clue what most examples are but it has a certain mystical magical uality. i was well pleased a while back when i discovers some earth star fungi in my front garden! lol Ah aches and pains associated with the aging process! Thanks for asking. You take care now and kepp those videos coming! lol
