Thanks for that, I had wondered how the hatch worked on those early tanks. First lot of carriers are 'bren' carriers, the rest are 'Universal' carriers.

Fast deployment of troops with light machine guns and anti tank rifles. Plugs holes and holds up attacks a tactic used in the first war with rifle armed Calvary fast transit behind the lines across any countryside “your on a hose”. To close as you where your needed then off horse forward and into position. Rapid reinforcement!. Also looked like good swarm tactic in attack Bren Gun Carriers can shift and every one has a Bren gun and can carry loads of ammo. It’s a general carrier so mortars tows guns so good utility vehicle. One thing the drivers seat is about 45 degrees of centre. This allowed driver to look backwards easier as the Bren Gun Carrier could go backwards real fast as well. Makes you wonder why that idea is not used on forklifts etc.

BIGGLES flys again just the Bren gun, but the carrier had a placement for AA firing

@@aliray1165 Some of the Bren carriers have Boys Anti-Tank rifles in their forward machine-gun port.
