Zoos were born from the, questionable (at the very least), idea of owning exotic animals for the mere entertainment of people. I'm glad to see that many current zoos have evolved in the right direction, aiming to be more than just entertainment but primarily true arks of Noah. They seek to care for endangered species and look after animals that (sadly) would have a hard time reintegrating into their natural habitat. There's a genuine concern for the well-being of the animals in every possible way nowadays.
