Montreal, Canada.
Several shots of people enjoying themselves at the Expo '67 fairground; people are seen taking trips on gondoliers with outboard motors; other people ride on a Viking ship; a hovercraft zooms along the lake, passing several pavilions.
A lengthy sequence shows a water ski display on the lake with various stunts and jumps seen; one man takes off from the water and hang-glides over the lake. Aerial view of the Expo; several views of the monorail and wind socks. A man sells bouncing balloons in the fairground; people mill about. Various shots show different forms of transport for getting around the site: a miniature train; toddlers ride in low '7-Up' prams; a man in a bowler hat (Pathe employee John Rammell) rides in a kind of covered rickshaw 'Pedicab' as a man in a pith helmet pedals behind him.
Several shots show an English Whitbread pub called 'The Bulldog' on the site; people drink under sunshades; a waitress serves tankards of beer to some people who place a pile of Canadian dollars on her tray. On the steps of the French pavilion we see buskers performing: The Road Stars do a kind of Egyptian sand dance; Cyril Jackson plays his one-man band; three ice-skaters perform on a tiny ice-rink stage. A Mexican band play guitars before the Mexican pavilion; one of the men does a Mexican dance (hat dance?) with a woman dressed in a Peter Pan or pixie outfit.
A group of men dressed as soldiers (Canadian?) in old fashioned uniform and tricorn hats walk past carrying rifles, flags and drums. M/S of flags of all nations flying in the breeze; M/S of a large Expo '67 sign by the lake as the sun starts to set; people ride along on the monorail before fountains on the lake. Several great shots of fairground rides at dusk / night with neon lights. Several shots of fireworks in the night sky.
Cuts exist - see separate record.

It may be 480p, but that's the nicest-looking 480p I've ever seen.

50 million admissions, not different visitors. Some Montrealers have been to Expo 67 100 times ...

Although the Expo was over, in 1970 my dad brought us kids to La Ronde and to my 7 yo memory, it was as magical as it is portrayed in this video. Make no mistake, the Expo is no more but La Ronde, which is a now ran by american Six Flags, survived very well through the years.

The picture quality is excellent. Thank you so much for posting these videos. It brings my childhood back with a clarity equal to my own memories of Expo 67. How wonderful to remember a time before corporate logos were displayed more discreetly and people actually experienced things rather than having their noses in some variety of electronic device. Notice how no one at the English pub has a phone on the table. How did people manage back then?

hoegaarden27 - They talked to each other and looked each other in the eye and felt each others emotions. It was wonderful. The kids don't know what they're missing.

5:13, Les Vieux Francais Canadiens Gardes / The old French Canadian guardsmen, of the early 1700s ! What a parade Expo 67 was ! The French Quebecois culture is still alive and an interesting sub-category of Canadian culture. I do NOT approve of Quebec sovereignty though! Parti Quebecois suck. Long Live Montreal, Long Live Province of Quebec and Long Live Canada! Which 1st came to the test about 13 years later in the 1980 Referendum. However, with the official languages Act of 1969, French speakers didn't need to leave Canada to speak their language!
